I hope there's a nice multigenerational plot in Hell ready for this family. Prescott Bush worked with the Nazis, GHWB has everything from the S&L crisis to Gulf War I on his head, and I don't think I need to remind everyone of Dubya's particular sins. That entire family deserves to roast for a good long time. I actually wonder if the human race will still be around for them to reincarnate back into by the time they've paid their dues...

Eh, the Prez, and most politicians, are in many ways just front people, public faces, for a sizeable number of voters who feel their anointed one thinks like they do. We focus too much on The Man. The way some people talk, it's like they really think the President of the United States is personally responsible for all their individual misfortunes.

I went on this "Bike with the Mayor" event, and it was rather eye opening. Most of the people who went were much more authoritarian in bent than average. The sheer amount of naked brown nosing, servile deference to the mayor's every move, and hanging on his every word was scary and sickening. But now I realize an event of that sort is simply irresistible to authoritarian, suck-up, poodle wannabe personalities. If allowed, those people will swarm all over anyone who has some serious power and responsibility, and crowd each other and everyone else aside to get closer. And they won't much care how immoral the leader is, as long as an appearance of strength and power can be maintained.

The Republican Party has a bad case of this particular disease, and it has been progressing. H. W. had plenty of faults, but he was a better president than his son W. I'm willing to concede the current occupant is slightly better than W. or H. W. _if_ he doesn't start any new wars. Hopefully, it's not his call to make, and after W.'s adventure in Iraq, I hope the nation is a lot less willing to follow another lying idiot into another war. Winding down old wars would be great, but that doesn't look likely.

Hey, talk to the animals. Proximity to power has always been a thing. A single episode about hippos on the Animal Planet can explain everything. There's nothing particularly human about this behavior. And though for the reasonable human, it is pathological, it is not a "disease". It's from millions of years of evolution. The brain stem still rules. The cortex serves.

And you don't reincarnate in the same universe, much less the same planet. All traces of previous existence are gone.

Really, girlie, you're the same grump as everybody else. You need a break from thinking too much.
