George H.W. Bush is one of the reasons the US is so tight with the Saudis. So tight that we've gone to war on their behalf. So tight that we've experienced terrorist attacks justified by our support of them, committed mostly by Saudis. So tight that the Obama and Trump administrations are happy to slaughter Yemenis on their behalf.

And, completely coincidentally, George H.W. Bush is long-time friends and business partners with the Saudi royal family.

All the public corruption stuff that Trump is doing? George H.W. Bush did it too, and got away with it, because the spice oil must flow.

Also back then the general populace was much more gullible and information was more easily controlled through the big media conglomerates. "National security" was still a respected term and people truly believed their leaders were furthering their own welfare. In bed with the Saudis? Just good business sense, so everything else was overlooked.

Now we're starting to realize how corrupt the system is and how little it cares for actual citizens. To truly safe guard our future we need to make sure that communications remain free.

PS: Fuck Jack Dorsey, never saw a video of him before a few days ago where he said freedom of speech was a joke. Fucking douchebag epitome of SV hipsterdom trolling real people. What a bunch of sociopath authoritarians. Reddit is one big exercise in trying to manipulate people, along with all the other big names. Curating your feed for you? Reddit's "popular" page with certain posts showing up pages later but still showing on the earlier pages? Yeaaah, manipulative cunts.

made it sound like Dorsey runs Reddit, bad phrasing

I'm all for a business curating its own system except when it violates its own principles. Like "unlimited" data plans this shit should be punished severely. ISPs should be regulated as "dumb pipes", consumer users should have much more upload bandwidth and ports should be available and only closed off if someone is abusing them by running a spam farm or something.
