Mark Zuckerberg's Biggest Problem: Internal Tensions At Facebook Are Boiling Over
“It’s the bunker mentality. These people have been under siege for 600 days now. They’re getting tired, getting cranky — the only survival strategy is to quit or fully buy in.”
In a year teeming with scandals and missteps, Facebook’s latest fiasco has inspired a clutter of leaks, finger pointing, and internal conversations about the future of the company and its leadership. And after more than a year of bad press, internal tensions are reaching a boiling point and are now spilling out into public view.
[ . . . . ] Two former employees said the spate of negative reports has cast a shadow over the company in recent weeks. Current and former employees describe a tense and, at times, hostile atmosphere inside the company, one in which both senior employees and even staunch loyalists are contemplating their futures.
People are “hoping for a Sundar or Dara moment,” one former senior Facebook employee told BuzzFeed News, referring to past leadership changes at Google and Uber in which founding employees stepped aside from top jobs.
[ . . . . ] “It’s really seeped in the last few years,” another added. “Election season is always the worst too, 2020 will be another shit show.” A third user added, “In this company, if you tell the truth, you are dead.”
As a non Facebook user, I had no idea.

The DNC did it and it was amazing. The RNC did it and it is 'concerning'. More like data is data and your opponents *do* know how to learn when you come up with something novel that works.
Could not have happened to a nicer bunch.

It applies to users, why would we expect it wouldn't apply to employees?
It is stupid in a way. A significant and steadily growing portion of their audience has left them behind due to their behavior. Not particularly because they wanted to. They simply keep booting people.
There are advantages and disadvantages to poking around on the alternatives.
+ Most of the actual interesting content is cross posted anyway
+ Many people cross post everything they do either in support of the alternatives, friends that have been booted, or simple anticipation of getting booted themselves
- Major figures fear the stigma associated with the challengers by the mainstream networks
- More Crazy whackjobs of some types
+ Less Crazy whackjobs of other types
+ Tend to be less blasé about protecting your data
- Generally less mature and less feature rich
+ More focused on their core function, not trying to branch out all the time
+ MUTE/BLOCK type actions are actually far more effective at keeping the riffraff off your feeds

We were even awarded medals when we killed them the very most effectively.
There weren't enough people killing Fascists in Spain, so volunteers came round from all over so as to help those outnumbered Spaniards who preferred to kill fascists than to be killed themselves. The American cadre was denoted as the Lincoln Brigade.
One Fascists is widely regarded as having committed suicide but some claim he was spirited off to Argentina. Another Fascist faced a firing squad along with his lady, then their two bodies were hung by their ankles from the roof over a petrol station.
In my understanding, one other top Fascist surrendered to those who vaporized many of his countrymen, Fascist or no.
Fascism remained prominent on Argentina, but when the Missus toured no-longer-Fascist Italy, she lamented:
We'll be killing Fascists again sometime soon, but we're going to be in a World Of Hurt when we do so, because today's Fascists are possessed of far-more fearsome weaponry.

Far better to kill a communist than a fascist. Oh, but wait, the communists intentions were better when they killed 4x the people that facists ever did, and in much more brutally efficient ways.
