ArsTechnica:

London's Metropolitan Police Service will be testing facial recognition technology in a handful of locations across the central core of the British capital on both Monday and Tuesday for eight hours each day.

This trial marks the seventh such trial in London since 2016. In addition to the December 17-18 tests, authorities have said there will be three more tests that have yet to be scheduled.

Time to break out the Guy Fawkes masks, Londoners.

    It doesn't hide your face, unless you intentionally pull a fold or two down over your face - then you look like you're on your way to a bank robbery.

    There could be many reasons to wear a ski mask other than attending or being late to a bank robbery.

    * you are ashamed to be seen in public
    * you are shy
    * you have a skin condition that makes it uncomfortable to be outside without something covering your face
    * a ski mask really is a fashion statement
    * corporations and government value uniformity and conformity, so everyone wearing identical ski masks should be a welcome change
    * you are looking for the best ski location in downtown london
    * it is some sort of religious practice to promote humility. (The best humility. The very best. Tremendous humility. The most humble person on earth. Nobody else is as humble. Believe me. Just tremendous humility unmatched by anyone. Tremendous. Trust me. My humility is bigger than yours. You'll never match my humility.)

      Why should I, or anyone else, be forced to be humble?
