LG has announced its TV lineup in the lead-up to the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next week. As in other recent years, the company has split its lineup between LCD and OLED models, and the OLED models are generally the most interesting. This year, LG's OLEDs and certain high-end LCD TVs will support HDMI 2.1, allowing them to display 4K content at 120Hz over HDMI.

HDMI 2.1 is also relevant for the emerging 8K TV category, as the previous version of HDMI only allowed 8K at 30 frames per second (fps). LG will introduce two 8K TVs—the 88-inch Z9 OLED TV and the 75-inch SM99 LCD TV—that can handle 60Hz content at the full 8K resolution over HDMI. Samsung announced its first mass-market 8K TV in late 2018, and it was limited to 30Hz. Granted, there is virtually no 60Hz 8K content available in most markets, and very little 120Hz 4K content. But that could change as TVs like these come to market.

Samsung's 2019 TVs to support Apple iTunes, AirPlay 2

Samsung and Apple are making nice -- at least when it comes to video.

Samsung's on Sunday said its 2019 line of smart TVs will offer support for iTunes movie and TV shows beginning this spring. The launch could coincide with the expected unveiling of Apple's long-rumored video streaming service, which is expected to make an appearance early this year.

The iTunes support will allow Samsung TV owners in more than 100 countries to access their iTunes library or buy and rent iTunes video content through their TVs. The support marks the first time iTunes movies and TV shows are being made available on a streaming video device that isn't made by Apple or isn't a PC. The capability will also be made available to 2018 models through a firmware update, Samsung said.

What about a high Spite neighbourhood? When the criminal sees your massive screen they just tip it over onto the floor.

They have the LCD. And, they have the OLED. The LCD, it's a VERY VERY THIN glass. Just a big sheet of very special glass. Very easy to break that one. Somebody tips it over, as you say. The kids get maybe a little too wild, they throw something at it. Or possibly you get a little too wild with your lady. Or ladies. No more TV. You still have a TV. But, it only shows Modern Art -- Piet Mondrian. It's not Piet Mondrian. But, it looks like it is. And that's something nobody wants.

The OLED, they don't need glass for that. They can make that one with ZERO glass. 100% Plastic. And you don't want to be too rough with it. But, it tips over onto the Carpet, possibly O.K. The kids are playing baseball, possibly O.K. You get busy with that sexy lady, possibly O.K. Because it's Plastic bumping against Plastic. And they're always talking about, they want to do the TV that rolls up. "Like a newspaper." They say newspaper. Do you remember newspapers? They've been talking about that one for a long time. But, it doesn't happen. But if it happens it will happen with the OLED. Not the LCD. Because, very hard to roll up a sheet of glass.

LG, by the way, you ALWAYS ALWAYS want the OLED. NEVER the LCD. The OLED doesn't last so long. And, it's more money. But, LG is SO HORRIBLE with their LCD! They pick the worst Panels, so ugly!! You want the LCD, get it from someone else. Not LG. Or you'll be very sorry. OLED, you won't go wrong with LG. That one looks fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.

I'll tell you, I'm working very hard on the TVs. We're going to have some fabulous TVs. With Panels from beautiful Kenosha, Wisconsin. The new plant being built by Foxconn is incredible. And I picked the site. Used to be the AMC factory. If you remember the AMC automobile. Otherwise known as American Motors. Great name but they had a very tough time. They didn't do a limo. And so many of their cars were very small. Which, some folks like them small. Well, the Japanese made them even smaller. And absolutely killed AMC, so sad. Well, I was in my helicopter. Flying with Reince who, very proudly, was raised in Wisconsin. And I said to him, "why is all that land vacant? That land should be used!" And I called Terry Gou of Taiwan. Of Foxconn. I called Former Governor Scott Walker. Who, at the time he was the Governor. And we pulled it off. Congratulations to the people of Wisconsin and to President Trump for making a tremendous deal. Great job!!!!

That's when I come home early and put two in their chests and one in their heads, after which I put a knife which cannot be traced to me in their hands
and THEN I call the police.

Castle doctrine is a beautiful thing.
