BBC:

Some academics at the annual Indian Science Congress dismissed the findings of Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein.

Hindu mythology and religion-based theories have increasingly become part of the Indian Science Congress agenda.

But experts said remarks at this year's summit were especially ludicrous.

[...] The head of a southern Indian university cited an old Hindu text as proof that stem cell research was discovered in India thousands of years ago.

G Nageshwar Rao, vice chancellor of Andhra University, also said a demon king from the Hindu religious epic, Ramayana, had 24 types of aircraft and a network of landing strips in modern day Sri Lanka.

Another scientist from a university in the southern state of Tamil Nadu told conference attendees that Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein were both wrong and that gravitational waves should be renamed "Narendra Modi Waves" [Narendra Modi is the current Prime Minister of India].

But if you want to be taken seriously you'll need another theory which explains everything explained by Eintein's one plus your new observations. Next it must also make prediction of phenomena which can be subsequently observed and verified by independent observers.

If it explains the world as well as GR and is simpler then that's reason to prefer it. The historical accident of GR coming first should have no impact.

Ockham's Razor does not state that the most stupid explanation is most likely the correct one. Only that the simpler is to be given the benefit of the doubt. But you know, since the Nefrites has flying saucers and landed in Utah before the Mormons ever got there, that is no reason to think it is not true. Only, it is reason to think it is not true. As Carl Sagan said, quoting earlier scientists, "extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence".

My view is that some pan-galactic being pulled the Milky Way out of his ass, because that makes the most sense to me and Russell M. Nelson, who by the way is not at all black, or brown, or in any way female or gender confused, just to get that out of the way. So far as I know. And I have known enough Mormons to be not so sure.
