The US government is seeking public comments on blocking sites accused of hosting copyright infringing materials and ISP liability in such cases. The discussion includes possible harmonization with current developments in the EU in regards to copyright and will take place in two parts. The first stage will deal with US case law developments since the last meetings. The second stage will focus on foreign developments, such as the infamous Articles 11, 12a, and 13, and how these relate to the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of Internet service provider liability.

The U.S. Government's Copyright Office is continuing its review on the future of the DMCA's safe harbor provisions. It's specifically asking the public for input on recent domestic and international developments that relate to ISP liability, including Article 13 and pirate site blocking.

While there are more serious issues to solve where both parties are indeed the same it has become pretty obvious that unchained Republicans go full lizard and drop even the pretense of morality. Democrats ARE better, at least we get some small benefits for the average person.

Until we get united for election reform we are stuck with a two party system. Possibly we could get some other parties out there, but the way it is set up now the political parties eventually merge together.

So until we get that reform it is wiser to choose the lesser of two evils.

If you vote for them they will come. There is no excuse. We made the system what it is today. There is no one else to blame. You want reform? Then vote for it! You won't get it any other way.

Trump and Sanders have shown that the best way to handle the two party system is to try to take over one of the parties. In the general election, you mobilize your core supporters while gathering your reluctant party members.

That's not to say that a third party candidate can't win, but Trump's success is going to make others try his method.

Before Trump the Tea Party demonstrated the same thing. Threaten anybody else in your party with you running somebody against them in the primary if they don't bow to your wishes.

Democrats instituted net neutrality. Republicans repealed it.

Oh please! They did no such thing... Where's the legislation? Besides, the executive order was completely toothless compared to what is needed. Again, theatrics that accomplished nothing but create a distraction. Man, even looking behind the curtain won't make a difference to you. Where's the legislation?

It's called a declaratory ruling and it's located right here. [fcc.gov] This is how the Democrats instituted net neutrality.

Here is the declaratory ruling [fcc.gov] that the Republicans then used to repeal net neutrality.

If both parties are the exact same then why are they doing the exact opposite?

I mostly agree with them. What the democratic party is is a decent, sane, if equally corrupt, version of a right wing party.

If you strip away the pointless angry racism, the rabidly anti-science bullshit, and worshiping of the rich as having divine right of kings from the republican party, you'd be left with a party that's militaristic/jingoistic, obsessed with slow incremental and cautious progress, in favor of market-based solutions to problems, and that's the dems, at least mostly.

That fact, probably more than any other, drives the waves of voter apathy that define our political situation. And the "Oh shit trump is fucking godawful" political awakening will die as soon as it spawned because people will go back to feeling like they have no real choices.

There ARE important differences. But what I really want is the best of both.

The fiscal responsibility of the D's combined with the social progressiveness and compassion of the R's.
