Radio Free Asia is reporting that over a dozen Chinese newspapers have gone under due to a combination of heavy censorship and falling revenue. Many more look to succumb to the same fate soon. All media there is expected to demonstrate loyalty to the ruling party and to President Xi Jinping.
At least 13 newspapers that rely on advertising revenue but are still subject to the government's strict censorship regime have folded, including the Beijing Morning Post, the Beijing Suburban Daily and the Heilongjiang Morning News, official party newspaper The People's Daily reported.
The Anyang Evening News and Zhangzhou Evening News titles have also been suspended.
Analysts told RFA that as commercial newspapers are increasingly squeezed by growing controls on what they can print on the one hand, and falling revenues and competition from social media on the other, government-run media are experiencing a huge boost resulting from their whitelisted status.

The party as a whole is. Don't conflate the president with the party. I literally held my nose, no exaggeration, casting that vote for Hillary in 2016. But I did it because the people she would be surrounded by would be less toxic and less dangerous than Trump's entourage.
The president can do only so much damage by him/herself. Left all alone, Trump would be no problem. It's the Pences and the Pompeos and the DeVoses that are the real horror shows. Remember Dubya and Cheney? Same thing applies.

Why not? The association is voluntary. And it is the party that they serve. And you are still going by the illusion that there is real opposition. Trump and Clinton are much closer than you're apparently willing to acknowledge.They are a matched set. If one goes to jail, surely the other will also. This is what keeps them both out. Same thing goes for the entrenched congress people. The entire government is at risk if we ever decide to go after the elected criminals.
And for further proof the democrats are just as cold and cruel, they let Trump win, by putting up moderates that intentionally accomplish nothing while looking like heroes by bickering with republicans. You have to understand, they are a team. And you're taking their good cop/bad cop routine for real. It is not.
Now, as far as Trump's manners go, very distressing. More distressing are the people that follow, or actually created him. All we had to do was show some class and turn our backs, and he would have disappeared.

Personally I'd love to see Trump and Hillary Clinton not only in jail, but in the same cell together. Either he'll eat her, or she'll...I don't know, summon Shinnok's skeletal hands to drag Trump down into the Netherrealm or something, but whoever loses, we win.
Again: there are fewer toxic people in the D cohort than the R one. Though over the last 20 years the gap has been rapidly closing, I'll give you that. *Something* big is coming, whatever it may be.
