In this era of "incite outrage-at-the-moment-to-get-that-click" clickbait news and postings pushed to us by mainstream media and social networks, is it a wonder that society is in the current state that its in..?

This article at NPR states that even if you're not aware of it, it's likely that your emotions will influence someone around you today. This can happen during our most basic exchanges, say on your commute to work. "If someone smiles at you, you smile back at them," says sociologist Nicholas Christakis of Yale University. "That's a very fleeting contagion of emotion from one person to another."

But it doesn't stop there. Emotions can spread through social networks almost like the flu or a cold. And, the extent to which emotions can cascade is eye-opening.

For instance, Christakis' research has shown that if you start to become happier with your life, a friend living close by has a 25 percent higher chance of becoming happy too. And your partner is more likely to feel better as well. The happiness can even spread to people to whom you're indirectly connected.

To document this, Christakis and his colleagues mapped out the face-to-face interactions of about 5,000 people living in one town, over the course of 32 years. Their emotional ups and downs were documented with periodic surveys. "We were able to show that as one person became happy or sad, it rippled through the network," Christakis says.

It's not just happiness that spreads, unhappiness and anger can be contagious, too. Should negative-clickbait be banned as a social threat?

You know what triggers the fuck out of me, is being on my neighborhood gossip site and seeing all of the support for refugees. We have our own huge homeless problem as well as a lot of vets who need help, and these fuckers are raising money and collecting things for the dregs of the world.

One person even requested a bottled water cooler (for arrowhead water bottles) for a refugee family, and one guy flipped his shit about refugees needing to drink bottled water while healthy tap water was available. These refugee scum are being treated like pashas and living better than I do.

Guess what all of the people helping the refugees have in common? Yep, they're Jewish and often working on behalf of Jewish organizations acting as "financial sponsors" for other open-borders groups. I haven't seen a single Hispanic or African person (and there are quite a few around here) request any donations for refugees.

Depends on the locale. Jews support refugees more than normal because they were recently refugees themselves. The wounds are still fresh.
But in areas where there are few if any Jews you'll see any other religion pick up the slack and where people aren't particularly religious then local community action groups will step in.

Refugees are refugees, they would be stateless if there was no place to take them in. The color of their skin doesn't matter. The place they are from doesn't matter.
What matters is that if you remove a 1/16th of an inch of skin we all look the same, we bleed the same color. Just treat them how you'd like your children / grandchildren treated. Because when the time comes believe me, the karmic debt will be repaid.

Refugees need help just as do homeless and vets who need help.

I agree that healthy tap water makes bottled water unnecessary. Assuming they can access tap water.

If the government would help refugees, I would tend to focus on homeless and others locally in need.

I wish I could fix the world's problems. But even helping a little bit is worth doing, even if it doesn't seem like much.

    Alcohol won't solve your problems.
But then neither will water or soft drinks.
And alcohol has more possible uses, such as fuel or sterilization.

So basically you want us to give alcohol (possibly 190-proof grain alcohol) to refugees.

Nope. Stick 'em with Bud Light. Got no other use for it, 'cept loading it into air tankers & putting forest fires out with it, maybe.

We have our own huge homeless problem as well as a lot of vets who need help, and these fuckers are raising money and collecting things for the dregs of the world.

You know, just because people are trying to helping refugees doesn't mean you can't help vets and the homeless. The two are not mutually exclusive. So, what are you doing to help vets and the homeless? Anything?

Guess what all of the people helping the refugees have in common? Yep, they're Jewish and often working on behalf of Jewish organizations acting as "financial sponsors" for other open-borders groups.

I help a local recently resettled Afghani family in my city; mostly, I help the kids with their math and science homework, as well as English writing. I'm Christian, not Jewish. I was connected with the family through Catholic Charities. (No, I'm not Catholic.)

I haven't seen a single Hispanic or African person (and there are quite a few around here) request any donations for refugees.

I'm all for everyone in my local community participating in refugee resettlement efforts, both on the giving and receiving end. Even those from "shit hole" countries.

It pisses you off that other people (not you) are gathering money from other people (not you) for other people (not you)? In your opinion, those other people should be spending their money on something else?

How about if you want to help your cause, you do it, and don't dictate what other people should do with their time and money. If something has nothing to do with you, your opinion on the issue does not matter - you're just an annoying nobody for that topic. You're like one of those suburban white sheltered kids who fights for black rights to look cool in front of their friends. The niggers don't want their help or opinion, and literally no one is interested in yours.
