Medical Xpress:

Australians report having sex once or twice a week, on average. For Brits, it's less than once a week, while Americans report having sex two to three times a week.

We can't know for sure how often individuals actually have sex. Some people may incorrectly report their sexual frequency, either by mistake or on purpose. But the national estimates data are based on representative samples, so they're a useful guide.
...
In fact, Australians and Americans are having less sex than they used to in past decades.

Aussies had sex about 20 times fewer in 2013 than a decade before. Americans had sex nine times fewer, on average, in 2014 than a decade before.

Increased competition for our free time from smartphones, expanded entertainment options, and other sources is cited as causes for the drop in frequency.

Something sure did change. I'm not sure if it's the amount of smartphones, TV or other digital entertainment options. Still when my parents were in their 30's they already had three kids. I'm fairly sure TV (or other entertainment sources/distractions) didn't get that much better so there is probably something else at work. As a matter of fact I don't think any of my friends actually have more kids then their parents did, child per person is just declining or at best staying the same.

But the number of children per per has overall declined in most of the industrialized western world and as noted I doubt it's based on other entertainment options alone, it would seem far more likely that other things changed to such as an increase in work and education time, more "lifegoals to fulfill" or something such. Or that just not having lots of offspring is now actually an option without looking like a complete weirdo. Or naturally there is the horror option that our parents were just a lot better at getting it on then any of us ...

You brought up expectations. Guess it was expected 40 years ago for women to be married by age 25 and have popped out 3 kids by age 30. Nowadays 1 is acceptable.
There's the bills: 40 years ago TV was free. Nowadays you spend a fortune to have 300 channels of shit be there if you have time to turn the TV on.
There's the women: 40 years ago, most women went to manage the household once they married. Nowadays women are competing for good jobs, be it for self fulfillment or the need to pay off the iPhone installment and the cable bill. Available jobs aren't on an upward tick. More competition equals less equivalent salary per job. And since no one is at home, add in the kids' daycare bills.
There's the employers: 40 years ago, it wouldn't have been unusual for employers to value employees. Nowadays it is unusual if they don't chuck them and hire fresh people.

In the modern age its more fashionable for men and women to slut around through their 20s than it is to start a family and perform their biological task. So we end up with skyrocketing autism rates from women having kids in their 30s that put the blame on vaccines because they can't accept the responsibility that their kids were ruined by their own degeneracy.
