CNet:

Review site Rotten Tomatoes is instituting some changes, leading many to believe it's responding to the recent controversy over the site's Captain Marvel page. But Paul Yanover, president of Fandango, which owns the site, told CNET that's not the whole story.

In case you were snapped away by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, and thus missed the recent controversy, here's a recap. Captain Marvel doesn't come out until March 8, but users were already leaving negative comments about the film on Rotten Tomatoes, a process dubbed "review bombing." Many recent comments seemed to come from those who are angry at star Brie Larson.

The movie review site has removed users' ability to leave reviews or to indicate they are not interested in seeing a film [EDIT: before it comes out].

I agree I thought the HERo thing was a bit heavy handed in the trailer....but that didn't put me off anymore then Black Panther has a "GASP" black guy in the lead roll. But they didn't do a hey this movie is called "BLACK panther"

The lead from Black Panther wasn't inserting his foot in his mouth every five minutes with racially charged comments. Here we have an unpopular comic book character being played by a disliked actress who appears to believe virtue signaling and grievance grifting are substitutes for charisma. Ms Larson clearly doesn't want to hear it from white males, so...

I'm not talking about the actor; it is the trailer; I really don't care what actors do or say....as long as they play the part well. I don't watch TV or follow what these people do outside of the movies....why would I care.

We shouldn't and we should separate the artist from the art. [dailywire.com] Unfortunately we are in the middle of a culture war and it's a safe bet the politics of the movie align with Larson's. The phrase "Get woke, go broke" isn't a social comment or mantra, it's a call to arms. You may be fine with a minority [squarespace.com] (f 0.1 & 5.1) hijacking our shared culture for their political ends but many of us have had enough of this divisive nonsense and have no problem employing "progressive" tactics against "progressives".
