The EU is moving forward with legislation to require ISA, Intelligent Speed Assistance, in all new cars starting in 2022. This system will use GPS, map databases, and speed limit reading cameras to limit speed. Speed limiting will be accomplished by limiting engine power. Drivers can temporarily override the system by pressing down hard on the accelerator. It seems that, at least to start, the system will have an off button. Other requirements of the legislation include a system to monitor the driver for drowsiness, and inattention, as well as standard hookups for in car breathalysers. It seems the driver monitoring systems may include in car cameras pointed at the driver.

Why do we let the politicians get away with these crappy, snooping, annoying tech solutions to human problems?
Advanced driver training has been available for a long time. I went to my first 2-day session at Liberty Mutual's location in central MA in the 1970s. Back then most of the students were professional drivers like ambulance and bus drivers, insured by Liberty Mutual. You have to believe the training reduced accidents if an insurance company offered it for free to their fleet customers.
Here's a school that isn't very expensive and will give you a good idea of the real capabilities of your car...and equally important, some practice in using those capabilities when needed:

There are plenty of other schools, in USA you shouldn't have to travel far to attend one. If you are already a driver of Stig's ability (which I tend to doubt), then consider gifting a class to a kid or other loved one.

Well, we could require periodically taking such courses as a prerequisite for getting and renewing a driver's license, but short of that such classes primarily affect the drivers who are already the most responsible, while the reckless drivers continue to be just as irresponsible as ever.
Tech and legal solutions are there to impose a measure of responsibility and/or threat reduction on the irresponsible members of society that will otherwise people's lives for their own ends.
