Gunmen have attacked a convoy of trucks carrying uranium fuel to a nuclear power plant near the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, police say.
The convoy came under attack as it drove past a community controlled by drug traffickers in Angra dos Reis, a tourist city 145km (90 miles) from Rio.
Police escorting the convoy responded and a shootout followed. No-one was injured or detained.
The convoy reached the Angra 2 plant safely 20 minutes after the attack.
The attack in the Rio-Santos highway is the latest in a series of violent incidents in an area popular with visitors.

In Brazil, all firearms are required to be registered with the minimum age for gun ownership being 25.[1] It is generally illegal to carry a gun outside a residence, and a special permit granting the right to do so is granted to certain groups, such as law enforcement officers.[2] To legally own a gun, an owner must hold a gun license, which costs R$1000,[2] and pay a fee every three years to register the gun, currently at R$85.[3] Registration can be done online or in person with the Federal Police.[4]

That if you require gun registration (not background checks, actual gun registrations), people will start shooting at nuclear stuff.
It happens every time.
When was the last time you heard about anyone shooting at nuclear material in the US? Never. Because we have the Second Amendment.
You know what else we have -- English. The have gun registration in Brazil, and look what it's gotten them? They all speak some incomprehensible shit that no one from a country with the Second Amendment would speak.
And it goes on and on. Caipirinhas, Feijoada, nude beaches, samba music. When does it end? I'll tell you when -- the twelfth of never, that's when -- unless they get a Second Amendment!

They're having big problems with the Carnival and with many things. Jair is very concerned. Very concerned. And I think he's going to make some strong moves on that. Except the only one who is talking about *banning* guns is you.
Which of these folks [wikipedia.org] are calling for an outright ban on firearms?
I'll make it easy for you -- none of them. This whole banning/confiscating guns bit is just conspiracy theory bullshit.
You may think that everyone should own at least six guns and be ready to open fire at anyone who belches too loudly. That's fine. Many people agree with you. Others do not.
By tarring those who don't believe exactly as you believe with the same broad brush, you're exhibiting the same behavior that your decry in others. English speakers call that 'hypocrisy', in case you were wondering.
Wouldn't it make more sense to ensure that *your* gun rights (assuming you're not diagnoseably nuts or a felon) are protected by cutting the legs out from under those who would restrict the rights of responsible gun owners by, at a minimum, making all *commercial* gun transactions (note the use of *commercial* here) subject to background checks, regardless of whether they occur in a gun shop, a gun show or a flea market?
Once that's in place, you can reasonably say that "reasonable regulation is in place, now get off my lawn before I shoot you dead with my legally owned firearm, you candy-ass, gun-hating, man-bun wearing, pansy piece of shit!"
But no. You need to take the position that psychotic mental institution escapees, drug-addled lady-boys (not that there's anything wrong with lady-boys, I'm just on a hyphenation kick at tha moment), domestic abusers hunting down their victims, and shit-canned postal workers should be able to access as many weapons and ammo as possible, immediately, with no regard to public safety. This happened at the nuke plant I used to work at on the Texas coast, STP. Truck carrying the new fuel showed up to the protected area gate and we noticed a shotgun blast near the right front wheel well. Drivers had no idea, remembered a loud sound but thought it was something on the road.
Probably turned into an incident you can look up on the NRC's site. I can't find it now, maybe they just chalked it up to being in Texas.
