A fisherman has caught a huge shark's head off .... Australia, leading to fears an even bigger creature attacked it.

The severed head weighed a huge 100kg, meaning the shark it came from could have been up to 12ft long.

It appears the Mako shark's head was bitten off and discarded by a predator - potentially an even bigger shark.

12 foot shark, meh. Food for a great white maybe? Looking at the picture of the head the guy is holding with its jagged cut, it could just as well have been cut off by a fisherman/poacher using a knife.

I do remember a story from the late '70's when someone was night fishing off the t-jetties in Asbury Park, NJ (think they are in Asbury). He was fighting a big striped bass when he felt a slight tug on the line, then just weight. He reeled in and found he had been left with the head and gills of a striper that weighed 19 pounds by themselves.
