Off-topic review bombs are something I've really noticed taking place on Steam over the last year. Steam is working on ways to counteract the off-topic reviews, while also trying to let people's opinions be heard. It seems to be working somewhat, but it's far from perfect. Off-topic review bombing isn't helpful in the slightest, when trying to decide whether the current product is any good. Yet, how else should a consumer let others know that a company is going off the rails?

Personally, I would love an option to also rate the developers/corporations behind games as well. Perhaps a second rating for a game is needed? One rating for the game, and one rating for the publisher.

Borderlands review bomb triggers Steam’s “off topic” fix

How much does Epic pay Gearbox in exchange for exclusivity rights? Doing this pisses-off customers and makes them lose sales. How much is that worth to you? It didn't save them anything in development costs since both Steam and Epic are PC-based.

Epic guaranteed a crowdfunded indie developer at least $2 million, essentially enough to cover every preorder that was made for the game, even if everyone asked for a refund. For just 1 year of exclusivity.

Epic is making bank off of Fortnite and using that money to try to break into Steam's turf.

    We can conclude:

    1. Epic is anti-consumer trash due to the exclusivity deals and giving publishers the ability to completely disable reviews on their titles.
    2. Steam needs to lower the 30% cut it takes so that it can stem the tide of Epic exclusives. Although that doesn't stop Epic if it is also giving multi-million dollar payouts.

If I had to pick an online "store", I would go with GOG anyway. But Steam is better than Epic.

Valve has done a good job of earning my business.

      1. Proton is very nice, and I'm glad they send patches to upstream WiNE. I happily deleted my Windows partition the day it came out.

      2. "Family sharing" is great. I can share nearly my whole library with up to 10 of my buddies, and they can share with me. Whenever they get new games, so do I (and one of my buddies is subscribed to Humble Monthly. Woohoo!).

      3. Steam Controller is pretty damned good. Additionally, they have great support for other gamepads too, including many of the features of the Steam Controller, so you can use a regular gamepad with mouse/keyboard games.

Can I be one of your 10? Hey Buddy?
