SoylentNews is people

Packt reports that Gab's Dissenter browser extension was removed from Mozilla's Firefox add-ons on April 10th (people already using it can continue to do so), and was booted from Google's Chrome browser the next day. Gab pitches itself as an anti-censorship social media platform that only prohibits speech that is illegal. Their Dissenter browser extension and associated website allow people to share comments about any webpage, giving users the ability to share comments on articles, videos, etc., regardless of whether or not the website hosting the content has a comments section. Mozilla's rationale for the ban was that Dissenter was being used to promote violence, hate speech, and discrimination, but they failed to show any examples to bolster that claim. Gab plans to develop their own browser in response.

I saw some of your journal posts and honestly couldn't figure out why your submissions were rejected. Maybe too much editorializing? I'd have to re-read, but usually editors just toss in the first paragraph or two of the article.

Need to search the backlog, these days. As to why, TMB and some eds objected that I was "painting them with the same brush" as I was using to expose the idiot alt-right around the time of Charlottesville. And so I was banned. But I keep submitting! Check out the queue on occasion, and maybe us free speech types on SoylentNews could use this new "Dissenter" plug in to mock the alt-right, the Trump right, and the Pro-business Sulla-right! Or maybe we will be banned a second tyme~

I doubt any of the site folks even run it. Even if they do, just use a different alias, like NotAristarchus and they'll never know its you.

Mostly dissenter is irrelevant for SN as you can post pretty freely on this site anyway.

          Funny.

Hard to say with such things. It's an obvious riff on Dissenter, spelled differently than dementor and not in a confusable. Who knows.

Interesting. So the free speech uber alles crowd are censoring, actually censoring, you specifically, because...you hurt their fee-fees. Amazing. Bunch of fucking special snowflakes.

If they don't like being painted with that brush, maybe they ought to examine honestly whether it's entirely undeserved and look specifically into the pain points making you wield said brush against them. After all, as Angelica Pickles once said, "if the shoe hurts, wear it!"

The urine soaked shorts of this dipshit are a result of laughing at clown world. Ari isn't being censored, the main page is curated and the place for his alt-right centric editorials is his journal. This has been explained to him endlessly but won't stop him playing the victim card and claiming to have been oppressed. The Dissenter browser extension is just that and Gab does have to abide by the rule of law, even has a TOS. [gizmodo.com] So why is twitter not being held to the same standard? I believe a deep seated fear of clowns skating on ice hockey rinks is the most plausible explanation.

There are some other less likely possibilities though.

    Too much snark or editorializing
    Bad format
    Busted/missing links
Dupes (once mine and another sub occurred almost simultaneously on the same thing and they combined them. That was cool)
Too Slanted (actually, scratch that, RDT and Ari get subs through)
Insensitive (I'm so sensitive, this seems unpossible)
Non Science/tech when there's too many such (e.g. political) posts currently
    boring/unlikely to generate discussion
Editor is mesmerized by my prose and loses a day

Hmmm, I see the technical parallel but i think there is a distinction to be drawn between an article sent to a review type process for consideration, vs. deplatforming actions such as banning an individual or piece of software.

Maybe that's inconsistent somehow, but these don't seem like the same thing at all to me.
