The deputy mayor of Paris, Emmanuel Gregoire, said the cathedral had suffered "colossal damages", and the emergency services were trying to salvage the art and other priceless pieces stored in the cathedral. A cathedral spokesman said the entire wooden interior was burning and likely to be destroyed.

Sounds like the whole thing may go up in flames. There's a reason for modern building codes. A structure made entirely out of wood, is a huge bonfire, waiting to happen. Thankfully, at this time, there are no reported deaths.

[Update: 2019-04-16 @ 0222: The Cathedral is not "made entirely out of wood" as was suggested above. There is a great deal of stone work in its construction which can be readily seen on its Wikipedia page. I was at work when I heard news of the fire, immediately took a break, loaded the story queue on my phone, saw a story submission on the fire, and pushed it out to the community. In my haste to get the story out, I failed to notice the erroneous claim about wood construction. I apologize for the error. --martyb]

Please point to ANY single post out of my thousands of posts on this site where I have ever posted fake news or anything that I haven't made a reasonable attempt at researching.

You see, that's what comes from reputation, you fucking anonymous coward. Log the fuck in, if you want to actually participate with the serious discussion here.

And yeah, so after posting two informative posts including a link to a NYT article demonstrating that I have knowledge about this building, I lamented the whole structure could come crumbling down. And a few minutes later, I saw the main structure is apparently saved, so -- with joy -- I posted in the same thread that I had already posted informative posts in... As I went back to read the details.

Unlike you, I have standards. I'm not going to post a link to some random news source without verifying it's a really well-written source. I didn't have time for that verification. I did have time to see the simple fact I cited was real, as were the previous two informative posts I made.

And you say my post had "all the qualities of a fake news post"? Log the fuck in, you fucking cowardly child.

Instead of lamenting that the whole structure could come tumbling down, others of us were doing something useful and praying for the fire to end. And our prayers worked since the main structure was saved. So instead of fueling your vanity by drawing attention to yourself, why not take a moment to thank the Anonymous Cowards who had the presence of mind to ask God to save this beautiful structure.

Hahahaha....'Useful,' and 'Praying' in the same sentence.

There is nothing more useless than 'thoughts and prayers.'

"You know who I pray to? Joe Pesci. Joe Pesci. Two reasons; first of all, I think he's a good actor. Okay. To me, that counts. Second; he looks like a guy who can get things done. Joe Pesci doesn't fuck around. In fact, Joe Pesci came through on a couple of things that God was having trouble with. For years I asked God to do something about my noisy neighbor with the barking dog. Joe Pesci straightened that cock-sucker out with one visit."

If you believe in it, praying is indeed useful for your psyche.

And put that way I would of wholeheartedly agreed.

However, it was phrased as "Instead of lamenting that the whole structure could come tumbling down, others of us were doing something useful and praying for the fire to end. And our prayers worked since the main structure was saved."
Insinuating divine intervention, which if it were, why was it allowed to burn in the first place?
God has the best PR anywhere, if it's good, it's gods will, if it's bad god works in mysterious ways.
Useful prayers might of been for the firefighters who put themselves on the line to save this historic building. But no, god gets the credit, while the firefighters were not even considered. I wonder how it would of fared on prayer alone?

And besides, once in a while ya just gotta troll someone.

          Peace out!

        Prayer is absolutely useful!

It is useful for the person praying to feel good about doing nothing.

Going to be OK dude? Don't have a stroke. Maybe you should step away from the 'puter for a while. Go beat your kids, your dog or your wife or boyfriend. Or all of them. But please post photos and videos so we can continue to mock and troll you. Sorry about your building, pray harder next time so God doesn't burn it the fuck down and laugh at you praying uselessly while he does so.

FWIW some AC posts aren't total garbo.

Shitty that there's the shitposter ACs too.

Some of us are doing what we can to bump average AC post quality, though. Honestly.
