Microsoft is gearing up to release the next version of the XBox with the key feature of the latest release is that the new XBox won't have a disc drive. While this may reduce the cost of each unit for Microsoft some buyers may regret the absence of the disc player given that many homes no longer have a standalone disc player relying on the games console for playing DVDs.
Perhaps this is a gift from Microsoft to Netflix introducing a new raft of customers looking for online content delivery.

That's presuming they use their gaming console to play DVDs (I dunno if it does BluRay). Still, Netflix isn't precluded since they have a large catalog of movies available via physical disc.
As an aside though, I'm thinking Netflix could try offering their users a "cloud" based physical player. It's leased as their property operated in a data center by Netflix. The customer has a connection device or app at home that can stream the player (including the menu's) to the customer's TV. This would allow me rent the DVD from Netflix normally, but delivery in in house to my player.
I'm sure they would be sued, but that's one to open Netflix's catalog up. Their disc library is more extensive than online offerings.
Technically, lunchtime is at any moment. It's just a wave function.
