CNet:

Electric cars are becoming an increasingly common sight on American roads. And while just a few brands may dominate the news cycle, there are actually well over a dozen fully battery-electric models on sale in the US today.

We thought it would be helpful to throw together a guide to better make sense of all your electric options if you're on the hunt for a new car. And to go a step further, we're also adding just how far each one will go on a single charge.

The range of most models still relegate them to commuter cars.

I saw no mention of last-mile vehicles, like electric bicycles.

The cost of an electric bicycle includes the cost of a set of clothes for rain, snow, heat, and the like, plus the time cost of changing into your clothes at the destination. In addition, an electric bicycle is not an option if the parents believe that their children are not yet old enough to share the road with motorists. Some members of my own family, for example, prefer that cyclists younger than learner's permit age ride on the sidewalk and won't listen to evidence to the contrary [bicyclesafe.com].

A family equipped with electric bicycles, living in a region with good public transit, probably would not need one of those high-end, luxury single-family electric vehicles.

Unless such a vehicle is less expensive than moving from a region with suboptimal public transit to a region with good public transit, including any applicable wage difference after finding a new job.
