Facebook Now Used for Dark Web Activity

Over two billion people use Facebook to buy and sell goods, chat with each other, and post vacation pictures. Now, according to a new report by Talos Intelligence, the social network is being harnessed by Dark Web cybercriminals as a place to sell credit card information, illegal contraband, and much more.

What's even more surprising, according to experts, is that this Dark Web activity isn't that dark or hard to find -- criminals sell credit cards right out in the open. One quick search for a term like "carding" (a criminal term for selling credit cards) reveals dozens of Facebook Groups.

    facebookcorewwwi.onion is a site that allows access to Facebook through the Tor protocol, using its .onion top-level domain. In April 2016 it had been used by over 1 million people monthly, up from 525,000 in 2015. Neither Twitter nor Google operate sites through Tor, and Facebook has been applauded for allowing such access which makes it available in countries that actively try to block Facebook

    In October 2014, Facebook announced that users could connect to the website through a Tor onion service using the privacy-protecting Tor browser and encrypted using HTTPS.

    And yeah, fauxnews turns out to be the right outlet as a source for this Ketchup!

    Look at Article. Or, look at Report. It's about Crooks on Facebook. People selling Stolen Credit Card, Stolen EMAILS (like Crooked's). Not about, some country wants to keep Facebook out but they can't because they got out smarted with special cyber. Totally different topic. And by the way, Report is dated April 5. 2019. If you we're having you're period when it came out, you're not even late yet!!!!
