It was only a matter of time. With each subsequent Matrix sequel released it grew clearer that the story was not ended. There would be more. Possibly to explain what exactly happened in the third movie, and why the second was even ever needed. So, now, here it comes: A fourth matrix film is reported to be in the works with Keanu stating that he would not turn down the opportunity to be Neo again. This may be the answer to the loyal followers of the Fanimatrix who have asked for a long time if there would be a sequel.
Maybe they will just retcon the lot, throw it all down the well as Neo's nightmare, and save the series with a decent ending.

You can add Star Wars VII, VIII, and IX to the list of never want to see. VII was a bunch of nostalgic / cinematic "wow" / drivel, with an Emo "bad" guy. I will never watch VIII or IX. In contrast, the Han Solo movie was great, and Rogue One was awesome. Unfortunately, they didn't do as good with the continuous series.
I found the Matrix 2 to be an interesting film that could have been saved by a good #3. You know, like a oh wow, realization that they're still in the Matrix . . . as opposed to "Magic".

Go and read the Han Solo and Lando Calrissian Trilogies from the 1970s/80s and see if you still feel Solo did justice to their respective backgrounds. It was, based on the characters and some plot summarizing, a 'canon' retcon of a far better origin story/handoff plot for the Falcon introducing us to younger versions of Lando, Han, and Chewbacca, as well as a unique and plucky pair of droids that better gave an idea of both the prejudices and eventual grudging respect given between meatbags and machines.
Luca's Pantoran(?) cameo and some later animated series character were also ripoffs of the Near-Human Wroonian race from the extended universe and within nerd circles, popularized in the WEG D6 Star Wars RPG game, which had a variety of colorful Wroonian characters in various source books and stories.
