https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/jun/17/china-is-harvesting-organs-from-detainees-uk-tribunal-concludes:

An independent tribunal sitting in London has concluded that the killing of detainees in China for organ transplants is continuing, and victims include imprisoned followers of the Falun Gong movement.

The China Tribunal, chaired by Sir Geoffrey Nice QC, who was a prosecutor at the international criminal tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, said in a unanimous determination at the end of its hearings it was “certain that Falun Gong as a source - probably the principal source - of organs for forced organ harvesting”.

“The conclusion shows that very many people have died indescribably hideous deaths for no reason, that more may suffer in similar ways and that all of us live on a planet where extreme wickedness may be found in the power of those, for the time being, running a country with one of the oldest civilisations known to modern man.”

He added: “There is no evidence of the practice having been stopped and the tribunal is satisfied that it is continuing.”

[...] China announced in 2014 that it would stop removing organs for transplantation from executed prisoners and has dismissed the claims as politically-motivated and untrue.

[...] There have been calls for the UK parliament to ban patients from travelling to China for transplant surgery. More than 40 MPs from all parties have backed the motion. Israel, Italy, Spain and Taiwan already enforce such restrictions.

I have a lot of issues with China, but this stuff here is:

    1. totally internal to China

    2. totally logical and rational, saving Chinese lives

Wasting the organs would not be more ethical. Organ removal is a superior way to execute somebody. Put them under anesthesia (unless they want to watch), remove their heart and lungs and liver, and that's it.

    Wasting the organs

"Wasting the organs" means the people who currently have those organs live. It also means that there isn't an additional incentive from those valuable organs to kill people.

Also, a large portion of the "scumbag" social class have a high frequency of additional medical issues -- things like IV drug use and viral hepatitis, smoking, heavy alcohol use. There's a motivation for extended the pool of involuntary donors to the class of political prisoners, as they have relatively good diets and clean living habits (like Falun Gong practitioners).

While I would normally agree to put the organs to good use, we are talking about China here.

The people in prison are more likely to be political prisoners than murderers.
The prisoners may have done nothing wrong except to be the wrong ethnicity or wrong religion.
They may have just spoken out against the communist party. The same communist party that bans Winnie the Pooh [cbsnews.com]. (and the last paragraph of that article mentions the winner of the nobel peace prize that died the week before while in custody.)

Killing innocent people to harvest organs is not moral or ethical in any way.

    1. totally internal to China

That must be the weakest excuse ever used.
