Several people have died and dozens have been injured in a suspected arson attack at a renowned animation production company in Japan.

Police in Kyoto said the fire broke out on Thursday morning at a three-storey building belonging to Kyoto Animation after a man burst in and spread unidentified liquid that set off the blaze.

The 41-year-old suspect was among the injured and has been taken to a hospital, Kyodo news agency reported.

    I doubt you will find "safe from intentionally sprayed accelerant" in many building fire safety codes. Even where they made Musk's 'not a flamethrower' is unlikely to be built to or pass that requirement.

    Initial source of flame Does Not Matter Any. What matters is measures preventing its spread and/or loss of life. Flammable materials accelerating the spread of fire, absent or non-working sprinkler system, absent or unusable fire extinguishers, absent or locked fire exits, no evacuation plan, personnel not knowing what to do in case of fire - those are the things that kill people.
