Boris Johnson has been elected new Conservative leader in a ballot of party members and will become the next UK prime minister.

He beat Jeremy Hunt comfortably, winning 92,153 votes to his rival's 46,656.

The former London mayor takes over from Theresa May on Wednesday.

In his victory speech, Mr Johnson promised he would "deliver Brexit, unite the country and defeat Jeremy Corbyn".

Speaking at the Queen Elizabeth II centre in London, he said: "We are going to energise the country.

"We are going to get Brexit done on 31 October and take advantage of all the opportunities it will bring with a new spirit of can do.

"We are once again going to believe in ourselves, and like some slumbering giant we are going to rise and ping off the guy ropes of self doubt and negativity."

Dear US of A, I'm sorry I made so much fun of President Trump...

It's OK. I must confess that in years past I made so much fun of my forebears for letting Nazis run amok in their country. And then we elected one for President of ours.

    ...wanna get drunk now?

OK, sure. I will buy the first round if you buy the second.

Oh please. That's why half his family is Jewish and all he does is kiss Israel's ass. You fucking partisan hacks are pitiful. I didn't vote for Trump partly b/c he's not nearly radical enough for my taste. I also haven't voted two party, maybe in my life.

Half? As far as I'm aware, the only one in his family who is "Jewish" is his daughter Ivanka, and that "conversion" appears to my eye to be more about smoothing over issues with her in-laws than it is about personal religious convictions.

...and all he does is kiss Israel's ass.

<sarcasm>And I'm sure some of Donald's best friends are Jews too.</sarcasm> I believe Trump's affection for Israel has more to do with throwing red meat to his evangelical base than it does with having an affinity for Jews. Just my opinion, of course.

You fucking partisan hacks are pitiful.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. And reality has a well-known liberal bias. We've heard it all before.

I didn't vote for Trump partly b/c he's not nearly radical enough for my taste.

I guess this says it all really. The next shill may step forward.
