Russian hackers probed election systems in all 50 states, a new Senate report confirmed Thursday.

The report comes one day after former special counsel Robert Mueller told Congress that the Russian government is working to meddle in U.S. elections "as we sit here."

"It wasn't a single attempt," Mueller said Wednesday of Russia's 2016 election interference. "They're doing it as we sit here. And they expect to do it during the next campaign."

The bipartisan report by the Senate Intelligence Committee released Thursday confirmed previous comments by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that Russian hackers scanned election systems in all 50 states ahead of the 2016 presidential election. DHS initially acknowledged Russian attempts to hack into election systems in just 21 states.

don't give a fvck about the actual votes of the public

Russians are public too. They have a vested interest as long as we have nuclear missiles that can reach each other. Bizarre thought experiment as a sci fi book plot; the UN decides to end war forever by enforcing that "enemies" get to vote in each other's elections. The "I wanna nuke Russia" candidate isn't gonna get many votes from the motherland, but "I want free trade with Russia" is gonna win all the motherland votes and frankly that isn't all that bad of an outcome... isn't it? Could make a hell of an interesting plot for a book. We have a nice economic sea trade empire and they have a nice land empire on the other side of the planet; I'm not seeing any inherent reason not to trust their public to vote as wisely in our interest as our own folks. Other than warmongering for the sake of warmongering to gain power, there seems to be little reason for the Russians and USA not to get along like besties.

Also the "other side" seems to think it fantastic if we flood the country with foreigners from the south who either get to vote or their anchor babies get to vote. I don't understand the inhumanity of the left considering a Mexican peasant is more of a human than a Russian peasant. Why is it good that 10% of the population of Mexico is influencing our elections but Russians posting memes on 4chan is somehow bad? Oh I see, they're a little polarized and one group is working for the "wrong" political party. What a load of BS. Wake me when there's equally fair and balanced headlines about the "insidious and destabilizing influence of Hispanics destroying our democracy and voting systems" LOL.
