Things finally came to a head on slashdot last night, and now anonymous posts are banned. No more anonymous nazi ASCII art, no anonymous racism, and no APK. More in this journal entry [Ed's Comment: And lots of interesting comments too ...].
It's one way to combat anonymous hate speech and forum spam.
[Editor (JR) We've looked at the site but we cannot find an announcement that anonymous posts are actually banned; it might simply be a case that the software is not working correctly, although it would seem to be an unlikely cause. Does anyone in our community have any additional information to categorically prove or disprove that anonymous comments are disabled?
Furthermore, as there are many more comments in the journal entry than there are here, I would recommend making any new comments on BarbaraHudson's journal entry rather than splitting the discussion into two.]

I know it sounds 'conspiratorial' but these guys have all moved on the speech they do not like. It is not really coordinated. But they all think they are fighting the good fight. They all have the righteous fire and are therefor convinced themselves they are allowed to attack 'them'.
They literally blame the internet for Hillary losing the election. She ran a shit campaign. There were many people who voted against her, not for Trump who had never even been near the internet. But since they think the internet moved the needle they do not want to allow that again. They got 'free speech'. But unfortunately that free speech was not for everyone. Just them. Once they got into the position of power. Only they get to have a say in what is allowed on the internet.
They are also being very short sided. What they call the 'nazi alt right' is not going to just sit back and not talk. They will go setup their own internet. That is the way of the internet. It detects damage and routes around it. The interesting people will move on. Look at facebook. No one really wants to use it anymore. Why? Because the interesting people have already moved on. Any excuses of privacy and what not, are just cognitive justifications. The interesting people are not there anymore. It is the way of myspace, digg, friendster, etc.... All that are left are screechy preachy people you do not really want to talk to anymore, not the fun interesting people.
They are also taking a shot at the chans. That is one group I would never want to piss off. They have fun just fucking with you just for fun. If you actually made them mad? Fuck me...
