The Trump administration is postponing some of its new tariffs on Chinese imports — a significant retreat in the trade war that has rattled financial markets on both sides of the Pacific.

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative announced on Tuesday that 10% tariffs on certain popular consumer items — including cellphones, laptop computers, video game consoles, computer monitors and some toys, shoes and clothing — will be postponed until Dec. 15.

'What we've done is we've delayed it, so they they[sic] won't be relevant to the Christmas shopping season,' President Trump told reporters.

I guess it really is easy to win a trade war: just saber-rattle but never actually do things.

World would probably have a much better choice choosing if the current United States President didn't act like a spoiled brat to every other power on the planet except Israel and possibly Russia. Then declaring his bullying is, "good dealmaking."

How's that Iran thing going? How about North Korea - they gave up their nukes already? Did we get peace in the Middle East by supporting an embassy move to Jerusalem? Let's not even begin with relations in the North and South American sphere; it is far too easy to note he daydreams about buying other countries which aren't for sale while doing nothing about the humanitarian catastrophe he's created within his own nation although I hear the private detention facilities' profits are increasing nicely.

If the last part of your statement were true then what is the United States doing in interacting with China at all? It should then be embargo, not trade war.

The United States will be very lucky if the World doesn't look at it and say, "Yeah, we're going to work so you're not on top anymore, either." The only saving grace is that World doesn't have to put up with Trump's BS any longer than five years max, and if we're really lucky a little over one. And maybe the career civil servants can keep us going through the singularly worst Presidential administration the world has seen in relation to foreign policy.
