Arthur T Knackerbracket has found the following story:

When Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez refers to immigrant detention centers as "concentration camps," or President Trump calls immigrants "illegals," they may take some heat for being politically incorrect. But using politically incorrect speech brings some benefits: It's a powerful way to appear authentic.

Researchers at Berkeley Haas [School of Business] found that replacing even a single politically correct word or phrase with a politically incorrect one—"illegal" versus "undocumented" immigrants, for example—makes people view a speaker as more authentic and less likely to be swayed by others.

"The cost of political incorrectness is that the speaker seems less warm, but they also appear less strategic and more 'real,'" says Asst. Prof. Juliana Schroeder, co-author of the paper, which includes nine experiments with almost 5,000 people and is forthcoming in The Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. "The result may be that people may feel less hesitant in following politically incorrect leaders because they appear more committed to their beliefs."

Although politically correct speech is more often defended by liberals and derided by conservatives, the researchers also found there's nothing inherently partisan about the concept. In fact, conservatives are just as likely to be offended by politically incorrect speech when it's used to describe groups they care about, such as evangelicals or poor whites.

"Political incorrectness is frequently applied toward groups that liberals tend to feel more sympathy towards, such as immigrants or LGBTQ individuals, so liberals tend to view it negatively and conservatives tend to think it's authentic," says Berkeley Haas Ph.D. candidate Michael Rosenblum, the lead author of the paper (the third co-author is Francesca Gino of Harvard Business School). "But we found that the opposite can be true when such language is applied to groups that conservatives feel sympathy for—like using words such as 'bible thumper' or 'redneck'."

[...]Although President Trump's wildly politically incorrect statements seem to make him more popular in certain circles, copycat politicians should take heed. The researchers found that politically incorrect statements make a person appear significantly colder, and because they appear more convinced of their beliefs, they may also appear less willing to engage in crucial political dialogue.

Political correctness is 100% a phenomenon of the left. "Redneck" isn't equivalent to "illegal immigrant", it's equivalent to "wetback." One is a neutral, descriptive term that the left desperately wants to get rid of because it's embarrassing that they're supporting something that is illegal and dangerous, and the other is an outright slur.

But it's not surprising that leftist academics (this study is from Berkeley) either can't tell the difference or are deliberately obscuring it, because political correctness goes hand in hand with dishonesty.

Au contraire mes amis! Political Correctness is 100% the invention of the Right, just so that they can claim to be politically incorrect, or, that is to say, rude, racist, misogynist, fascist, and basically Republican. "Politically incorrect" means socially rude, factually incorrect, and just being a dick. That is all it is. And the fantasy that there is something called "Politically Correct" is only a justification to be all of these things, mostly a dick.

"Redneck", as Runaway well knows, applies to those who trim their locks too short, and so suffer sunburn upon their necks. It is only coincidence that short hair and rightwing nutjob thinking coincide as much as they do. But, they do. So do not be surprised, since "political incorrectness" and lying go hand in hand. You know, it may be politically incorrect, but I gotta say, white people are really stupid and gullible! No wonder we don't have white supremacy, since the whites who believe in white supremacy are all so inferior! Just saying! Facts, not political correctness!

Why would you post such a lie? Political correctness came directly to the US from the Soviet. The left invented it, the left transported it to the US. The right has been scoffing at the concept for decades. As I noted above, the US right has kinda flirted with the concept of politically correct propaganda since the birth of the US. Propaganda blurbs are "politically correct" within their time, and within their context. "Don't tread on me!"

Dude, you're treading all over me when you make up this sort of lie. All you're doing is villianizing the right, to take attention away from the villiany of the left.

Runaway, Runaway, Runaway! You are out of your depth. You have no idea what you are dealing with. You watch Fox News? Good place to start. Analyse, investigate, see how the coverage moves you and other idiotic Arkansawsians to be bat-shit fucking stupid!!! Look at it, man! It is staring you in the face! You have been bamboozled! You have been lied to! You are putty in the hands of the Right wing media! They made you hate the Clintons, when you had no good reason to. Are you this gullible? Are you this stupid? Propaganda campaigns have had their day, like during Vietnam, or on the wind up to the illegal aggressive war against Iraq, but why would you not recognize its origins in the Third Reich? You are being conned by Nazis, Runaway! I beg you, come back to America! Be on our side, again!

You are out of your depth.

You keep telling me that. Proof?

          You watch Fox News?

I keep telling you that I don't. You don't listen.

          bat-shit fucking stupid

Even if that were true, I suspect it might be better than bat-fuck crazy, like progressives.

They made you hate the Clintons

Not at all. I hate the Clintons for very much the same reason I hated Jack Kennedy, and his lowlife scummy son, Ted. Jack got a lot of good people killed, so that he could get rich. Ted actually killed an inconvenient lover. JFK and Bobby were the black sheep of their family, because the possessed humanity and compassion for their fellow man. The Clintons have no black sheep in their family - no one of them understands humanity.

Propaganda campaigns have had their day,

Yeah, they have. Does that mean you're going to drop your own propaganda campaigns against Americans? I'd love to see it. You can do it - you can treat conservatives with respect. You might even get some respect in return. Try it.

"Redneck" isn't equivalent to "illegal immigrant", it's equivalent to "wetback."

It's not equivalent to either term — it specifically refers to the poor white Americans of the rural South, whose necks were often sunburnt red from working out in the sun all day.

"Wetback" in contrast refers to Hispanic (originally just Mexican) immigrants who enter the country illegally by crossing the Rio Grande river, thus getting their backs/bodies wet.

Hmmm, person I used to work with would come visit our headquarters periodically (~15 years back.) We called each other ignorant redneck and damned yankee respectively.
