Boris Johnson's decision to suspend Parliament was unlawful, the Supreme Court has ruled.

Mr Johnson suspended - or prorogued - Parliament for five weeks earlier this month, but judges said it was wrong to stop MPs carrying out duties in the run-up to Brexit on 31 October.

Supreme Court president Lady Hale said "the effect on the fundamentals of democracy was extreme."

[...]Delivering its conclusions, the Supreme Court's president, Lady Hale, said: "The decision to advise Her Majesty to prorogue Parliament was unlawful because it had the effect of frustrating or preventing the ability of Parliament to carry out its constitutional functions without reasonable justification."

Lady Hale said the unanimous decision of the 11 justices meant Parliament had effectively not been prorogued - the decision was null and of no effect.

She added that it was important to emphasise the case was "not about when and on what terms" the UK left the EU, but about the decision to suspend Parliament.

Speaker of the Commons John Bercow said MPs needed to return "in light of the explicit judgement", and he had "instructed the House of Commons authorities to prepare... for the resumption of business" from 11:30 BST on Wednesday.

I'm talking about our perception of reality. You come outside to find that your property has been vandalized. You check your security camera (which has been hacked), and you see your "neighbor" clearly trashing your property. The thing is that your neighbor was asleep in bed when the event happened. You have "evidence" to show the police. It just so happens that your neighbor is having a dispute with someone who wants to discredit him, so they hacked reality.

The Mission Impossible movies showed characters looking identical to other people, so the ones who saw them truly believe they saw the person who was not even there. They are even working on technology to alter memories or directly interface to the visual cortex to transmit images to our brains. We will end up with Total Recall style systems where people can abduct you, fill your head with false memories, and then send you back out into the world thinking whatever they want you to believe.

It will reach a point where you can't really convict anyone of a crime because it will be so trivial to frame anyone for anything. You'll never be able to know that you're not sending an innocent person to prison.

Wrong conclusion. Most criminals are too stupid and lazy to pull this Minority Report stuff off.

It's the CIA agents you have to watch out for. But it will have no effect on sending people to prison, we'll do that regardless.

And you know this hasn't happened already, how?

Reading comprehension, "we will end up" is a future tense. Generally reserved for things that have not happened yet. The opposite of your question.

"Things that have not happened yet", in the perspective you are now in, where they have in fact already happened but you have no way of distinguishing false memories of the past from the actual past. When it comes to Total Recall, time is irrelevant. Do you think that's air you are breathing?
