Windows 10X Details Leak, Confirm Laptop Support

A new leak confirms that Windows 10X will be coming to laptops and other traditional PC form factors. The leak also shows a more refined version of the system's Chrome OS-like user interface that Brad and I, and others, had seen in the past.

The leak comes courtesy of The Walking Cat on Twitter, who discovered a public-facing Azure website for the coming system. It was quickly taken down by Microsoft, but not before a few enthusiast websites took a peek.

Also at The Verge and ZDNet.

I was kind of active on some "hacker" boards, when XP was approaching end of life. Got a "leaked" copy of Longhorn, which was the supposed successor to XP. Longhorn actually became my daily driver for awhile. It was just XP, improved in a lot of ways. A bit more stable, a bit faster maybe. Basically, it was just XP with a lot of cruft flushed down the shitter. No real "features", no hint of the sissy-ass Aero desktop, nothing really new or extra.

Then, Vista came on the scene. THAT was an utter abortion, in many ways.

No one should believe that any "leaked" version of anything from Microsoft is representative of the next official release.

It's also just further proof that all Windows users are nothing more than guinea pigs in the multi-year wankfest that a bunch of hipsters at MS have turned the UI into. Let's see, it's October, we'll go pastel... lots of empty space... incomprehensible non-discoverable UI. Oh wait, nearly November, need to do a "UI refresh". What can we do this time? Jim, any ideas? Everything in subtle shades of sepia, with squared-off... no wait, we did that last month, rounded corners? Anyone got anything against two-handed gestures to do most things, haven't tried that one yet. Or should we save that for the December UI rehash?

“We studied our past in order to inform our future,”

No, you didn't. You ignored your past and let a bunch of hipster wankers take over, and they've been running the asylum for the past seven years.

Let's add a panel that slides in from the side, and screw users we won't name it so trying to reference it for help will suck.
No! No more charms or slidy things! Throw out that new dock you created for how we are doing it next.
Start button? On Windows? No one needs that anymore.
A search must blow up to cover the whole screen like on a tablet with no visible way to close it.
Searching for files on your own computer? Pssssh. Google can search computer and the internet! Users won't mind if we scrape all of their local search terms because you never know your tax files might just be in the internet.
Start SCREEN! Why have just a menu? This will be fun!!!!!
Users keep delaying or skipping updates. Oh no, how will we shove our advertising laden updates down their RAM? Force updates!!!!! What could possibly go wrong?!?!?!?!? Gamers don't care if we screw with their video card drivers right?!?!?!?!

I hope that happens lots. Gamers are the most loyal Windows users, because they have to be.

If Microsoft mess up the one advantage they have over other operating systems, people might become motivated to change.

For me Civilization VI runs just fine on Ubuntu. I understand other people play different games, some of which don't work on Linux. Those people should just play Civ.

        Problem solved.

Since I switched to Linux I have never loaded a game in Windows. I'd like to. I could go another run through Dungeon Siege 1 and 2. While some games just Won't Work on Linux I still have a stack to play. I am missing a slew of games that are Windows only but do I need them?

'Scuse me, trying to get through all the FF ATM :)

Troll mod? LMAO - a statement of fact is a troll post? I suspect I've offended someone in another thread, so she used up her downmods on me again.

Let me repeat - Longhorn was a pretty good OS, and Vista sucked basketballs through garden hoses. Never trust a "leak" from Microsoft.
