FOSDEM 2020 Presentations Available Online

The presentations from FOSDEM 2020 are online. FOSDEM is an annual, non-commercial conference for Free and Open Source software developers and takes place for two days every year in Brussels, Belgium. This year it was the first weekend in February, Saturday the 1st and Sunday the 2nd. It is organized by volunteers and aims to promote the use of free and open source software. One beneficial aspect is the many developer rooms where various projects can meet and exchange ideas, plan, discuss, and hack. Participation is free of charge.

    I did watch several of the Java presentations right after they were made available. The presenters and topics were excellent.

    I hope that other topics of interest to other people were equally good.

    Scripting, and minimal languages, are my thing currently, but I like strong typing, so I enjoyed this:

      Lua is one of those cool things.

      Long, long ago, about 2000, I made "Setup.exe" installers using a product "Setup Factory" from a Canadian company. It was scriptable in Lua. I came to appreciate it. Especially the fact that you could embed Lua into a C program. (A that time, I had done C/C++ for a few years in the late 1990s, but found it not exactly to my needs, and some of the then C++ compilers less than "stable".) So I appreciated, in principle, the way Lua could be embedded, like GNU Guile.
