Ilya Dudkin at Skywell Software has a story

Top 7 Dying Programming Languages to Avoid Studying in 2019 –2020.

Each language gets a paragraph's treatment as to why he thinks these languages are dead or dying. Those languages are:

  • Visual Basic
  • Objective-C
  • Perl
  • COBOL
  • CoffeeScript
  • Scala
  • Lisp

Do you agree with his assessment? Are there any other language(s) you would add to the list?

There will be perl code running somewhere long after all of us reading this are dead and gone. Probably not *my* perl code, but ya never know. Probably COBOL too. Scala is interesting, and will likely live on. Objective-C, will probably fade into obscurity, unless someone outside Apple keeps it alive. VB, who cares, though it will probably live on out of spite. I barely know what CoffeeScript is.

However, forget all those, there will probably be lisp code (or some derivation thereof) still running somewhere even as the universe reaches heat death.
