Bosses Panic-Buy Spy Software to Keep Tabs on Remote Workers
Phones are ringing off the hook at companies providing a bit of Big Brother.

The email came from the boss.

We're watching you, it told Axos Financial Inc. employees working from home. We're capturing your keystrokes. We're logging the websites you visit. Every 10 minutes or so, we're taking a screen shot.

So get to work — or face the consequences.

[...] Workers at various companies have complained of excesses, but many of them are new to telecommuting, with its temptations of a midday nap or the demands of children out of school. Employers justify going full Orwell by saying that monitoring curbs security breaches, which can be expensive, and helps keep the wheels of commerce turning.

Breaches can result in disciplinary action up to and greatly in excess of mere termination.

Like I said, Fuck You Money might not be so easily saved.

It "might not be", but it is. Spend less and save at least six months of salary.

We have this massive student loan problem

I think the word is out - don't borrow so much.

Or, they don't go to college, which dooms them to a lifetime of low paying jobs that never pay enough to get ahead.

As compared to the low paying jobs you can get with a college degree? At least you're four years of wages ahead.

As to the rest, if you're looking for guidance on how to live your life from a selfish employer, then you're doing it wrong.

Older and wiser workers aren't always able to keep themselves safe from that kind of crap. If they are fairly safe, because they do have a nice pile of Fuck You Money, they likely have to be careful to keep that quiet, in order to land a job. Got to put on an appearance of desperation, but not too much, lest the employer fear that that job candidate will steal from the company.

Never been a problem here. Maybe I just pick the right employers all the time.

I'm a software developer without a degree making more than most of my peers in my area who do have degrees. Apparently, he thinks that every employer in existence requires degrees...

But yes, everyone should run out and get degrees. It's not like that will make credentialism and degree inflation worse, further decreasing the utility of those degrees.

Or five or seven years of wages ahead. I keep forgetting so many people can't make it out of college in four years.
