Looking out at a city with no cars and realizing they were unable to help out directly with the pandemic, some artists at a Detroit advertising agency found another way to help,

Editor's Note: Kudos to metro Detroit-based ad agency Doner for their new ad, ""When the Motor Stops," promoting the resilience and determination of the Motor City as it fights the COVID-19 pandemic. As reported by Julie Hinds in the Detroit Free Press, "the idea came from a young brand strategist, Alex DeMuth, (who said) 'Our agency can't make ventilators or masks, but we can make content.'" The filming was done last Friday by one employee, who built a camera rig to fit on his car and drove through the city's deserted streets. He then edited it from home, while a copywriter recorded the narration from her closet. It is truly a great - and powerful - ad. -WG

We are almost out of 6 digit Id's. I would argue that, speaking only for himself, he is roughly right for the first 6 nines. Might even get an entire extra 9 out of the ACs who never signed up.

FYI: I just looked, the newest SoylentNews account had UID: 10102.
So, you were close; we only need another ~90,000 users to get to 6 digits!
Hurry! Get your 5-digit UID before they're gone!

Brain fart... I looked at the post # when I did my math. Unfortunately I don't work in one of those fields where a single order of magnitude is considered close so no credit on this one.

I once had a professor in college who explained "Astronomical Accuracy" was going through a rough approximation of the calculations, and if it came in within an order of magnitude, then it warranted further investigation. I thought he was joking and had a good laugh. And then I realized he really meant it! Douglas Adams nailed it in his description of space and how mind-blowing-ly *HUGE* it is. And how very boot-strapped are the means that distances are determined! Fascinating!
I was just looking so I could quote THHGTTG, accurately, and came upon this fascinating page on the size of things in the universe [theconversation.com]. Enjoy!
