Apple Issued Warrant by FBI to Provide Access to iCloud Account for Sen. Richard Burr for Stock Sales Investigation

FBI recently obtained iCloud data access from Apple for Senator Richard Burr, as part of an on-going investigation regarding stock sales.

Richard Burr is under investigation for selling his stock portfolio while he was receiving updates from government health officials regarding coronavirus pandemic. The timing of his stock sales preceded the sharp decline in the stock market, just a week later. He had heavily invested in businesses that suffered the most due to the pandemic.

[...] Burr sold between $628,000 and $1.72 million worth of stocks. He was not the only senator to do so, as a few others are also under investigation. His brother in law also sold his shares worth between $97,000 and $280,000, on the same day as Burr's sell-off.

It is against the law for lawmakers to make trading decisions based on classified intelligence briefings that they receive due to their position in the government.

Not only is Trump *refusing* to lead, so as not to have to admit his mistakes, but also his (cynical and baldly political) tactics have and continue to hinder our efforts to get this epidemic under control.

As the head of a government that is sworn to "preserve, protect and defend" our system of government, which system was formed, in part to "...insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare..." he is not doing those things in this time of crisis and has both not acted and acted in ways that have increased the severity and consequences of this national disaster.

The good news (for me at least) is that where I am (at the epicenter of the epidemic in the US), we have a plan [ny.gov] that has already seen significant parts of my state start to open up again. It's based on data and evidence and takes a phased approach to reopening, so as to limit the risk of new spikes in cases.

The state (on a regional basis) can begin opening up (much of the state started doing so last week) when they meet the criteria [ny.gov] specified for phase I. Further progress depends on using data, evidence and science to ensure that new cases, hospitalizations and deaths continue to trend downward, even (especially!) as restrictions are lifted further.

If your government isn't doing and/or planning something similar, then maybe you need better public officials.

I hear there's an election coming up later this year. Perhaps you could do something about that.

NY has the most lockdowns and it spread the most over there *and* it was the most deadly there. Sounds like your approach is working great!

Meanwhile states opening back up ASAP are not seeing any of the spike in cases predicted by the fearmongering, just like Wisconsin didn't after holding that election in early april.

So not mimicking places where everything goes to shit is ignorant? There is nothing positive I can see from the story in New York.

Ever since they had that smiling robot spreading the virus in Times Square I knew it was going to be bad there. Then came the demand for 50k ventilators that 88% of patients died on after needlessly suffering and wasting the ICU space/money for weeks, then came sending all the old covid patients into nursing homes rather than the hospital ship to spread the virus among the most vulnerable, then came the homeless moving onto the subway, etc.

Exactly what did I say that is not true? You still have not spelled it out.

I'll say it again for you. There are more than two choices on the ballot. This is an irrefutable truth. 95% of the voters make the personal choice to stick with the majors. Tell us what is not true about that, please. Tell us what outside force compels them. From where do you derive this "lack of choice"? How do you absolve the voters for the free choices they make? And for their lack of initiative when they don't like the choices the rest of the population provides in the preliminaries? The voters are the "Ruling Class"™, and they alone can be held accountable for their choices. The "system" only reflects and projects.

If you want more *viable* parties involved in elections, then do what my neighbors and I did: Pass a ballot measure requiring Ranked Choice Voting [wikipedia.org].

Whinging about it online won't make any difference whatever. Go out in your area and do as at least 20 other jurisdictions in the US have already done.

Don't like first-past-the-post elections? Fine. Use your political will and those of your neighbors to implement something better. But you won't do that because you really don't care about electing different folks, all you care about is trashing the system we have.

You're a troll, a hack and dyed-in-the-wool "Forever Trumper." And not very good at any of those things.

Go ahead and complain, but since you're not making an effort to create something better, *you* are supporting the the system you claim to hate. Which gives the lie to, well, just about *everything* you say.
