Google Resumes its Senseless Attack on the URL Bar, Hides Full Addresses on Chrome 85

Google has tried on and off for years to hide full URLs in Chrome's address bar, because apparently long web addresses are scary and evil. Despite the public backlash that came after every previous attempt, Google is pressing on with new plans to hide all parts of web addresses except the domain name.

A few new feature flags have appeared in Chrome's Dev and Canary channels (V85), which modify the appearance and behavior of web addresses in the address bar. The main flag is called "Omnibox UI Hide Steady-State URL Path, Query, and Ref" which hides everything in the current web address except the domain name. For example, "https://www.androidpolice.com/2020/06/07/lenovo-ideapad-flex-5-chromebook-review/" is simply displayed as "androidpolice.com."

    What sort of sites are "unreachable through Google" which tell "the truth?" What sort of truth is it?

    What sort of truth is it?

    Knowing the GP's posting history, it is probably such "truths" as: 1) There is no such thing as COVID-19; or 2) COVID-19 is the fault of the Muslims; or 3) COVID-19 can be cured by guzzling down large amounts of hydroxychloroquine, mixed with zinc, mixed with large amounts of bleach. And why is the biased media unfairly suppressing these glorious truths?

      Yeah, you're right. But the problem is the crazies like this include a kernel of truth, seemingly by accident, in their conspiracies.

      Google will absolutely hide results they've received DMCA takedown notices for. And they'll demote pages for not being "mobile friendly" enough, even for desktop searches.

      Let's say you have a news radio, officially registered with Italian authorities, which means they go through your content. Let's say you operate for decades and nobody finds any fault. Let's say one week ago they take down your video about the italo senate buying masks because it is against the rules concerning weapons (totally false), strike one, and this week, omitting strike 2, they take down your 200000 subscribers channel with thousands videos because it is against hthe rule concerning children in sexual positions (totally false).

      So, who is for the truth and who against it? please, earn your 50c next time.

    While not "unreachable" the MPAA/RIAA forced google to tweak results so searches for torrents return streaming services instead. Hell not a day goes by I don't have to wrap quotes around a term because its ignored. Lately google has even told me (paraphrashing here) there aren't any good results for your search, so here's so random shit.
