USA Today reports Trump has Officially Begun to Withdraw the US From the World Health Organization as Pandemic Spikes:

The Trump administration has officially begun to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization, even as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to grip the globe and infections spike in many states across the U.S.

Congress received formal notification of the decision on Tuesday, more than a month after President Donald Trump announced his intention to end the U.S. relationship with the WHO and blasted the multilateral institution as a tool of China. The White House said the withdrawal would take effect on July 6, 2021.

[...] The formal withdrawal comes as the United States nears 3 million reported coronavirus cases and more than 130,000 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University data. Globally, there have been 11.6 million cases and almost 540,000 deaths.

I really believe that people with Trump Derrangement Syndrome are so messed up that they can't engage with reality anymore.

Trump's behaviour is often in front of a rolling camera or posted by himself Twitter. His administration constantly has to re-interpret what he says. We're not talking about tan suits or birth certificates, here.

If you're seriously going to try to claim that people are reacting to Trump without having a reason to criticize him don't be surprised if you end up relegated to the kid's table.

The American military needs to have an enemy, and so does Trump.

I'm old enough to remember when the Mujahideen were brave freedom fighters, but that was a long time ago and their sons and grandsons have been much more useful as "terrorists".

China was a valuable trading partner until Trump needed an enemy to blame things on, and China is a great choice, as Covid started in China and there is no arguing that they're a fairly brutal dictatorship.

That, however has never been a problem in the past and many our our "friends" are just as brutish as China is.

People like VLM who use the term "Trump Derrangement Syndrome" (sic) are of of course just regurgitating what they've heard on Fox News, and have no interest in the damage the Trump regime is doing to relationships that America might want to rely on in years to come.

I wonder if Americans might want to start having a conversation about divorce? It will be difficult, but it might be for the best all things considered.

Xi has taken the CCP back to hardline totalitarian practices.
Lots to choose from, but lets pick one:
Why are people dismissive of things like 'no blacks' restaurant signs, kicking black people out of their homes and herding them down the street with batons as shown in recent videos? Propaganda broadcasts blaming CV-19 on dirty black people.

Why is that the country we should be 'friends' with?

The CV-19 outbreak started at the end of October, was filling hospitals in November. The CCP restricted internal travel but encouraged international travel. The CCP bought up international PPE supplies while claiming first no outbreak, then no human-to-human transmission. They had the 50 cent army make social media posts labeling anyone who wanted travel restrictions a racist via fake social media accounts. (twitter later announced deleting 170k of them)

      That's ok why?

        Pics or it didn't happen.

Why is that the country we should be 'friends' with?

Let's be quite clear. I don't care one way or the other whether we're "friends" with China or not. The people who run the massive corporation I work for however are quite fond of the billions in profits they get out of the country, so they probably take a different view and they definitely have more influence with your government than I do.

We are however "friends" with several countries who do much, much worse things to their own people, and you've never even heard of them.

Why is that the country we should be 'friends' with?

Because back in the day when Bill Clinton was really rolling on job gutting free trade deals with the third world labor market -- China contributed to his campaign. Now that the Democrats are 100% on the side of job exporting corporations who have the good grace to fly a rainbow flag and post a black square (because meaningless symbolism costs nothing and if they can get those racist border walls torn down, nobody will make over $1/day ever again), they need to pay homage to those who paid megabucks (not some piddly prole's $26).

To be fair, our "friends" who are at least as brutish as China (Saudi Arabia, I'm looking at you) have been our stalwart "friends" for long, long, long before Trump was elected. Our foreign policy has been a mess for a long time, and honestly I'm not sure that Trump has really made it much worse. I don't really have much trust in the MSM these days. I've followed the trail through those sorts of articles before, and still never found a link to any actual Trump tweets. It's a citation circle where everyone agrees there are racist tweets because everyone says he is a racist tweeter.

I was sincere in wanting to read the alleged stream of racist tweets. Deathmonkey [soylentnews.org] finally provided a link to a tweet triplet where he tells three non-white senators to go back to their own countries if they don't like what he is doing. A single example is hardly a stream, but it looks like that's it for racist tweets.

                        The actual text from Trump:

So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how. it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!

Not really that extreme for political rhetoric, and while racist it is targeted at three political opponents not at a race in general.

There's a significant distinction between those four ladies and these two gentlemen and I'm not referring to their physical appearance or their gender, here. Well.. four people, if the other two had actually been involved this entire dynamic would be different with a very good chance of it ending in your favor... Fun. Anyway, do your homework. The short version is: There isn't a different standard that would be applied between the two groups.

Isn't having different standards for different races the very definition of racism?

We're not talking about statutory offenses, here. The direct answer to your question is 'no' because there isn't a different standard being applied, you'll need to update your hypothetical with more information, the current version of it does not provide a clear 'yes' or 'no' as to whether its racist. The answer you're aiming for is still no, but you'll need a better understanding what happened with Trump's targets before I can make that clear to you. The short version is there isn't a different standard between the two but how you phrase your hypothetical can change that.

Incidentally, because you have chosen this particular hill to die on instead of the nice clear-cut example I gave you, it's gonna be a lot harder to give you clarity because of an additional wrinkle: He said something he was specifically not supposed to say. He's the President, he has high standards to adhere to. At that point it's not even the words that matter. I'll put it to you this way: If I'm squeezing your throat, and you can't breath and are about to die, and I say "I love you!", that won't actually reduce my sentence. If, instead, I had only threatened you to the point that you needed a restraining order, and I never touched you, me saying "I love you" is nowhere near as powerless as it was in the last example. This, as a concept, is important to understand, especially since this example is so nuanced. (I'll concede that this straw man I created is terrible and not worth getting into a lot of nitpickery about the specifics, I'm only using it fleetingly to illustrate a concept.)

The reason for me sending you Google terms to search for is really starting to become apparent, here.

*For the record, I mean no personal disrespect, would have preferred to have been less abrasive with that remark but doing that just made this post a lot longer.

Quoting out of context. He said he wants to cut funding to schools that stay closed. Seems reasonable, if they are not open, they should cost less. That does not conflict with wanting to increase education funding in general.
