USA Today reports Trump has Officially Begun to Withdraw the US From the World Health Organization as Pandemic Spikes:

The Trump administration has officially begun to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization, even as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to grip the globe and infections spike in many states across the U.S.

Congress received formal notification of the decision on Tuesday, more than a month after President Donald Trump announced his intention to end the U.S. relationship with the WHO and blasted the multilateral institution as a tool of China. The White House said the withdrawal would take effect on July 6, 2021.

[...] The formal withdrawal comes as the United States nears 3 million reported coronavirus cases and more than 130,000 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University data. Globally, there have been 11.6 million cases and almost 540,000 deaths.

US to leave WHO next July after Donald Trump criticism of coronavirus response [abc.net.au]

The United States will depart the WHO on July 6, 2021, and under the terms of the withdrawal, it must meet its financial obligations to the WHO before its exit can be finalised.

If anyone thinks this is more than another distraction to cover his leadership failures in US, I have the Brooklyn bridge to sell you.

Not so much his leadership failures as his outright criminality - the arrest of Ghislaine Maxwell seems to be passing by public consciousness, long enough for a suicide by knife in the back to be arranged.

It's #45's pattern - if someone with dirt gets pinched, do something even more batshit insane so as to distract reporters and editors alike. It doesn't hurt that he's got a bottomless well to draw from.

The problem with your theory is that Trump has been threatening to defund WHO for quite some time and, so far as I'm aware, Ghislaine is still quite alive. Could it be that you are overlooking the obvious, that Trump really is an idiot?

Nope, it's more like 2D golf.

Actually, to me it looks like Trump couldn't win a game of tic-tac-toe. Sad.

That could be an alternate way of writing an equivalent statement, but there's nothing wrong with the first one. "Couldn't win" better expresses the author's opinion of Trump's mental faculties, while "would lose" said nothing about Trump, only the outcome of the game.

Do you think I'm that stupid or do you really are one?
Let me give you a hint. "How about a nice game of chess?" [youtube.com], does it ring a bell?

You have to be really stupid to lose, on optimal play on both sides the best "outcome of the game" is a draw
