New research has found that people with "dark" personality characteristics, such as psychopathy and narcissism, are less likely to comply with efforts to impede the spread of the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and more likely to stockpile goods such as food and toilet paper.
Two new studies, both published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences, reinforce previous findings that the "Dark Triad" of narcissism, psychopathy, and Machiavellianism is associated with ignoring preventative COVID-19 measures.
But the new research indicates that health beliefs and situational perceptions may play a more important role than personality traits alone.

Yea, but the point of research like this is to not assume our biases are correct and instead, by scientific method, prove them right or wrong. They sound like a waste of time, and most are, but they're have been some surprises from research like this that make this worth doing.

Sure, the narcissists know who they are, and everyone else knows who they are. And yet, this is newsworthy, precisely because we didn't know.
How could we not know? Well, we do, there' just been a lot of pro-narcissist propaganda lately. "Reasons" why not wearing a mask actually makes you a hero instead of an asshole.
The propaganda is infiltrating our thoughts patterns to the point where we need to spend real time and real resources proving things we ought to already know. Just because we got confused and started asking ourselves, "Is it really just assholes? Am I missing something?"
No, you're not missing something. It's really just assholes. Reality didn't change just because they figured out how to weaponize the news cycle. We could use more proof of that these days.

I too refuse to wear a mask, because they're not effective enough. Instead, I wear a closed-circuit rebreather, goggles, and ear-plugs whenever I go out & about. Can never be too safe.

This is not about whether one should wear a mask or not. It's about being forced to by illegal decree, or harder to fight, all companies, everywhere, enforcing mask mandates. I guess all you bootlickers will be lining up for the new dna altering covid "vaccines" and trying to force it on everyone else. The attitude people have taken that they have the right to tell other people what to do about their health is the most dangerous and likely to cause a shooting war that i have seen so far. If this continues people will get fucking shot and they will deserve it.

Not only that, you can rest assured that when (not if, WHEN) they catch the virus due to their own stupidity, they'd insist that THEY get the first ventilator available because THEY NEED IT NOW, even and especially if they don't and someone else would have to die for it.

If you knew anything about ventilators, you'd know that NOBODY is insisting they get the first ventilator. The ventilator is the Hail Mary, we've tried everything else, your going to die, and even if you don't you're fucked so why not, step. Nobody is getting put on ventilators to be 'saved'.
That you feel the need to bring ventilators into the conversation just proves you don't know Jack shit about the subject and probably should just stfu now.

You really are a moron. Of course no one wants to be on a ventilator unless they have no other choice. But you really think that if they have fluid filling their lungs and are barely able to breathe, laying in misery in a hospital bed, and the doctor says that they'll need a ventilator or they're going to die, that they won't be like "Gimme a ventilator now! I don't care if you have to unplug someone else! Gimme! Me! Me! Mine!!!"? That's exactly how I would expect a narcissistic person to act.
