More interesting science from PsyPost,

New research has found that people with "dark" personality characteristics, such as psychopathy and narcissism, are less likely to comply with efforts to impede the spread of the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and more likely to stockpile goods such as food and toilet paper.

Two new studies, both published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences, reinforce previous findings that the "Dark Triad" of narcissism, psychopathy, and Machiavellianism is associated with ignoring preventative COVID-19 measures.

But the new research indicates that health beliefs and situational perceptions may play a more important role than personality traits alone.

Dark Enlightenment, or Dark Triads?

First, young people die of covid too.

Yes. They're more likely to win the lottery though if they don't have a preexisting condition that compromises their immune system.

    Millenials are not invincible [statnews.com]

New analysis breaks down age-group risk for coronavirus — and shows millennials are not invincible. The new data show that up to one-fifth of infected people ages 20-44 have been hospitalized, including 2%-4% who required treatment in an intensive care unit.

Besides, the chance of being killed by a falling bullet [wikipedia.org] is even lower than winning the lottery, but it happens [telegraph.co.uk] and a rational human would refrain from celebratory gunfire in densely populated places.

Here are the factual data, not journalistic perversion.
      https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid_weekly/index.htm#AgeAndSex [cdc.gov]
See the Table 1, the actual numbers per age category.
For those "millenials", the chance to die of COVID (i.e. of pneumonia it causes) is roughly 1 per MILLION.
      (15-24 years: 62 deaths per 42,970,800 population).

The stat you're trying to refute was hospitalization, not death.

In case you hadn't noticed, hospitalization is unpleasant and damned expensive. In the case of covid, recovery for someone sick enough to be hospitalized can be long and possibly incomplete.

        Your data seems off.

Did you go and cherry pick from the cdc or find some trump political appointee data?

Why would the data be listed as 62 deaths per 43 million people?

Surely that is not a Covid-19 number. After all, worldwide, there have only been a little over 16.5 million reported cases of Covid-19. Only a little over 4 million in the US. And to top it off, that is the rate among those aged 15-24 years... Surely that narrow range is only a small portion of all covid cases. If I were to register a guess, those numbers are actual flu cases and deaths on an annual basis... not Covid 19.

Another way of looking at those numbers is that ratio is 10x the number of people infected with Covid-19 in the US. Based on those numbers, there are only 6 deaths in that age group... and surely the people who watch the news from places that don't blindly use the president's propaganda have heard about more than 6 deaths in that age groups... and again... that is assuming every case in the US is in that age group based on numbers.

A final point about the utter uselessness of your numbers in this situation... Another major symptom in Covid-19 cases is blood clots. In fact, that is one of the biggest problems of people that recover from Covid-19 after being hospitalized. Well, blood clots are the cause of Heart Attacks, Strokes, and Pulmonary Embolisms (among other problems as well depending on where the clots form.) Those 3 that I mentioned are all extremely serious and can all cause death if not treated quickly. Any death like this would be Covid related and not be considered pneumonia at all.

You and I have very different ideas of what constitutes "young people" then. I don't consider anyone 25+ to be even arguably "young people". They're middle-aged (even if they recently often have Peter Pan syndrome and refuse to grow the fuck up), which they stay until around fifty or so and with any luck become old.
