More interesting science from PsyPost,

New research has found that people with "dark" personality characteristics, such as psychopathy and narcissism, are less likely to comply with efforts to impede the spread of the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and more likely to stockpile goods such as food and toilet paper.

Two new studies, both published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences, reinforce previous findings that the "Dark Triad" of narcissism, psychopathy, and Machiavellianism is associated with ignoring preventative COVID-19 measures.

But the new research indicates that health beliefs and situational perceptions may play a more important role than personality traits alone.

Dark Enlightenment, or Dark Triads?

4 months ago it was sensible to ask people not to hoard masks because there was an actual shortage and a real problem for medical professionals to have enough masks available. That problem has been solved though and we do have plenty of masks now.

It's amazing how people are unable to see things in anything but a binary frame. Yes or no. Black or white. But the world is not black or white. Yes, masks lower the spreading rate of the virus. But if we do not have enough of them to ensure that medical professionals have the supply they need, we have to accept a higher chance of spreading instead of endangering the supply to those that have a considerably higher chance to deal with infected matter. Since we do now have enough of them, we can use them on everyone to help lower the spreading speed.

Is that really THAT hard to grasp? I'm genuinely asking here.

You're letting the trolls rile you up.

Don't get angry, just disregard their bullshit once it is clear they are idiot trolls and go straight for the ad-homs. There is no point engaging someone once it is clear your points are unappreciated.

The general public is not at risk from coronavirus. Only the Boomers are at risk. The solution to the problem is to kill every Boomer. Coronavirus will not be a risk after every Boomer has been killed dead.

You know what? Fuck it. Go and die. I'm sitting here in Europe, we have that shit under control. I'm done with the US. If you really insist in fucking your country up, go for it.

I did care about the US, because I love the country. But maybe it's gonna be an even nicer country without the idiots currently squatting there.

4 months ago it was sensible to ask people not to hoard masks because there was an actual shortage and a real problem for medical professionals to have enough masks available.

That would make sense if they said "Masks are useful, but health care workers need them more." But they actually said "masks aren't useful". If masks aren't useful, that doesn't change when the shortage goes down.

That is because they needed to lie to keep people from hoarding masks when health care workers needed them. But now there is an oversupply, and they can lie now and tell people to wear masks, because it is a security blanket giving the proles the feeling of some agency.
        That's government in action.
