I imagine most people here already know the stats, it's nothing new, but I found it interesting to review.

Many Americans Are Convinced Crime Is Rising In The U.S. They're Wrong:

"People estimated their risks for a whole host of bad-news life events — robbery, burglary, job loss and losing their health insurance. But the survey didn't just ask respondents to rate their chances: It also asked whether those things had actually happened to them in the last year.

And that combination of questions revealed something important about American fear: We are terrible at estimating our risk of crime — much worse than we are at guessing the danger of other bad things. Across that decade, respondents put their chance of being robbed in the coming year at about 15 percent. Looking back, the actual rate of robbery was 1.2 percent. In contrast, when asked to rate their risk of upcoming job loss, people guessed it was about 14.5 percent — much closer to the actual job loss rate of 12.9 percent."

[...] "In 2019, according to a survey conducted by Gallup, about 64 percent of Americans believed that there was more crime in the U.S. than there was a year ago. It's a belief we've consistently held for decades now, but as you can see in the chart below, we've been, just as consistently, very wrong."

Like I said, more of the same, but might be worth a discussion.

This is like saying the riots going on are not riots but protests.

"today here at this 79th day of peaceful protests police were out in force". In the background you see some jackass building a bonfire, next to a burning building, and some other jackass tossing a moltov cocktail or firework to start more fires.

That is some 1984 shit right there. Changing words to mean other things but cling to the previous meaning to manipulate my emotions.

People see that shit and say 'maybe I should get a gun'. They are not wrong.

Crime *WAS* going down. In the past 3 months it has sharply spiked. They are trying to use a previous thing to say the current thing is not bad.

This is manipulation at a sorry level. This is to feed an outrage machine. You need to be outraged by God. How dare you not be outraged at the police state for people tearing down what you think is American. HOW DARE YOU not be outraged at the police. /s

If you want mob justice you will get it. The mob is rarely right.

These people do not have your best interests in mind. They have that you will be their slave. Oh wait sorry, fellow worker comrade.

We started this site because Slashdot was basically shilling for corp interests. Why do you carry the DNC's water for them? They are utterly corrupt and not worth shit. They have held theses cities hostage for decades and then pretend it is not their fault that they are failing. You can say the RNC is no better? Well they are not the ones burning shit down and ending thousands of businesses that people depend upon. This is squarely at the feet of the DNC. They earned it.

Destroying small business aids Democrats' contributor class by eliminating any last vestiges of competition, plus it gives them an election talking point and the ability to promise a better future to the unemployed (*). The way you can tell that Democrats are treating COVID cynically, is the disparate ways in which rioters and small business owners are treated with respect to social distancing and the application of law (arrest, fines).

(*) Delivery on promises not guaranteed or even likely. Indeed, if your job can be done remotely from 10 miles, it can be done remotely for 6000 miles and you can count on Democrats to take the most hardline libertarian free trade positions possible and deregulate any export of work. Again, see Democrats' contributor class and their desires.

Small business owners are usually criminals, anyway. They will skirt regulations if they can get away with it, and they do not care how much damage they do to a community. Most start as Meth dealers, and later move up to snacks or used cars.
