Do you have celebration plans for Wookiee Life Day? According to Disney, it's the galaxy's "most cheerful and magical holiday," so on November 17, the company will celebrate the event on Disney+ with a Lego Star Wars Holiday Special. Set immediately after Rise of the Skywalker, Rey and BB-8 go on a journey through the nine-film timeline that promises to give screen time to goodies and baddies current and past. Except it's all done in Lego, so painted tongues will be firmly in plastic cheeks.

Hopefully, somewhat better than the lesser known: Star Wars Holiday Special

The Star Wars Holiday Special[a] is a 1978 American television special set in the universe of the Star Wars science-fiction media franchise. Directed by Steve Binder, it was the first Star Wars spin-off film, set between the events of the original film and The Empire Strikes Back (1980). It stars the main cast of the original Star Wars and introduces the character of Boba Fett, who appeared in later films.
[...]
The special is notorious for its extremely negative reception and has never been rebroadcast nor officially released on home video.[2][3] It has become something of a cultural legend due to the underground quality of its existence. It has been viewed and distributed in off-air recordings made from its original telecast by fans as bootleg copies, and it has also been uploaded to content-sharing websites.

I moved out of my parent's house the day they couldn't call the cops on me, and didn't have a tv for a couple years. The infamous Star Wars Christmas Special aired during this period. I've looked for it a couple times since then with no joy. Even with my, cough cough, torrent expertize, cough cough.

Ooops, wait a minute. Forget I ever said anything I'll tell you what I think of it tomorrow.

You can't have looked very hard. There are even copies of it on Youtube if you just search for the title. The quality is awful and the acting and singing is even worse ...

I just put it into a search through Qbittorrent. I got well over 100 hits, although most of them appear to be dead. The top four hits all have 5000+ seeders, all of them listed through torrentfunk2.com

You will notice that I'm not vouching for any of these - maybe I'll download them, and see if they are any good . . . Apparently the magnets don't work, download doesn't start for me.

FFS peeps, I found it while posting my comment. It's downloaded already, I'll watch it later tonight.

Reminds me of another movie, Pinocchio in Outer Space. Saw it when I was a kid. For years I posted on forums about it, and searched online. Nobody had heard of it, I finally decided I'd dreamed it. Then I found it on a torrent site 3-4 years ago. It's bad. It's really bad. I quit maybe 30 minutes into it.

By all that is holy in this uncaring universe, do not watch it.

I saw it when it was aired. I sat there, eyes unable to tear away from the sheer insanity. When Bea Arthur appeared, my soul died... screaming.

Good luck. I so far have only managed to make it about half way. It is ... well terrible. Not in a 'i could see how someone may like this' but bad. This is coming from someone who kinda likes the movie Battlefield Earth (its bad but at least kinda consistent in its weird logic and at least kind of fun). That SW special is pure cash in and awful.

I was probably 11, younger brother aged 6, and the Star Wars holiday special was "after our bedtime, and therefore impossible for us to watch." Only our extremely rich neighbors had a VTR at that time (I think it cost 40% as much as our new 6 cylinder BMW), and they didn't regularly tape TV with it.

To this day, I thank them for not allowing the holiday special to ruin my impression of the original trilogy. I managed to pull it up online a few years back, IMO it's every bit as lamely horrid as it's reputation, painful to watch.

If you're in the mood for some Star Wars nostalgia, I recommend looking up the Rolling Stone / Madonna interview of Carrie Fischer, and then watching Postcards From The Edge.

I remember thinking "Sure, people say it's terrible, but c'mon - it's Star Wars! How bad can it possibly be?" Then I watched it, and I was like.... oh..... my.......god......

Of course, this was before the prequels and the Disney Star Wars stuff, so I actually had reasonably high expectations for something labeled Star Wars. And yes, that was coming from someone who had watched and enjoyed the made-for-TV Ewoks movies.

The made for TV Ewok movies were some fine entertainment. I like those quite a bit. I watched Episode VII and swore off the next two movies in the series. Now, if you want to see the very best of Episode VII. Look for the undercover boss Star Wars segment on Saturday Night Live for the Emo Villain, whatever his name was. That is entertainment at it's finest and is the only thing that even partially redeemed the travesty that was Episode VII. In contrast, Rogue One was superb and Solo was out of this world. I might give "The Mandalorian" a try, but I never much liked the character to begin with.

Then again, going back and watching Star Wars, it wasn't the greatest acting ever, that's for sure. As far as anything's concerned Rogue One may have been the best Star Wars movie. Even though, you know the general outcome of the movie to begin with.
