CNET has a quick video podcast [flash required] on a few new technologies that are coming out. Read on for links to the individual stories.
[More after the break]
First up is a rather critical review of the Apple Watch that's being sold on Friday, calling out its battery life and price ($350-$17,000 USD). Next, Skype is expanding their in-session automatic translation service to include both Italian and Mandarin (previously limited to Spanish and English). Teaching a computer to translate between western languages and Mandarin Chinese is impressive in my opinion. They also mention Amazon Echo, and how a new update will allow it to control some of the devices around your home. GMeet is also mentioned, but from what I understand it's still just a rumor.

Did anyone actually watch the video?
I didn't and won't. Especially because the stupid proprietary flash crap means I can't play at 1.3x speed to get to the meat without being bored out of my head.

What? There was video? I only saw the Flash thingy, and I block that by default. And when I don't, it doesn't work any way. A message appears warning me of armaggedon if I don't upgrade, and when I follow the link, it says no upgrade available for Linux. So really, the problem solves itself.
