It's a way to pander to millennial punks and give them false feelings of being special and unique, while simultaneously dividing them so they don't reach consensus and remain the impotent pacified weenies they are.

Millennials are in their 30's now. They own houses, fight wars/conflicts, and run for political office. You are thinking Gen Z perhaps? Though i suppose plenty of the tail-end of "Millennials" could still be young punks. *shrugs*

They have already grown. The days where it was possible to make them feel special and unique have ended years ago. Probably right around the time the baby-boomers sent them to war for a decade+ and sold liberty for false security.
