http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-05-07/jade-helm-15-prompts-texas-takeover-conspiracy/6452810

A paper published last year found that around half of the American public consistently endorses at least one conspiracy theory, and that many popular conspiracy theories are differentiated along ideological dimensions. Having said that, their research was pre-Snowden revelations, so many of the conspiracy theories may have been well founded.

Even so, the hysteria surrounding Operation Jade Helm 15 seems unusually shrill, with Chuck Norris (ex fake Texas Ranger) urging Texans not to believe government reassurances that it is just an exercise, and Governor Greg Abbott ordering the National Guard to monitor the US military's activities.

So what do Soylentils think? Will conservative Texas, in the words of Freedom Fighter 2127 on YouTube be, "The first state, according to our military source, these are not just drills. Texas will be the first state to be under martial law"?

There are plenty of people willing to point out the lunacy of the conspiracy theorists. Of course, Jon Stewart is one:

"There is no Texas takeover," Stewart said. "The United States government already controls Texas — since like the 1840s. And you left and then you came back. Just borrow a textbook from a neighboring state. It's all in there.

With Chuck Norris against them, they wouldn't have had a chance anyway. He would just have kicked them out of Texas with his bare foot.

Yeah, it looks like the age old paradox of 'can Chuck Norris roundhouse kick himself silly?' has been finally answered, and was found to not be a paradox afterall. He most assuredly can, and apparently did so.

I'm glad I never became an 'actor'. It seems so many of them have been going batshit-insane as they get old. It seems to be all over the news, all the time. As it is, I can quietly continue going batshit-insane as I get old without bothering/affecting anyone else, and nobody notices any of it, or has to care! :-)

What is, or one would expect, to be going on is that each state drill implementing martial law. Tampa Bay had south a drill not that long ago, which included foreign observers mind you.

If things were to go south, society wise, martial law is the only tool the gov knows to keep people in check. Which having gone through the LA Riots some time back, was the only means they have available.

Of course the military is not supposed to operate internally, but if there's an emergency who's going to be organized to object (legally)?

We as a nation have become a bunch of pussies that look to find someone who can look at and wipe our own asses, it being too scary for ourselves to do. And so we loose more and more control of our own lives, to a typical gov who wants to control everyone in a police state fashion. (This is where any gov will go if allowed.) When we don't operate outside our own personal interests and simply say someone else will take care of it, that somone else will not do it the way you want it done. And that you can take to the bank.

They usually call out the local National Guard unit to augment the local cops when thing get hairy.
Are those guys going to shoot their own neighbors and kin?
For the Tiananmen Square massacre, the gov't had to bring in troops from 2 provinces over to make sure the soldiers weren't murdering their own relatives.
