Sweden's highest court has thrown out Julian Assange's appeal against his arrest warrant where he is wanted for questioning. Prosecutor Marianne Ny changed her mind earlier about questioning Assange in London. Assange has repeatedly requested that the questioning take place over the phone or in London as per common practice, to avoid traveling to Sweden where he fears he risks extradition to the US. Sweden has also repeatedly refused to give assurances regarding possible extradition.

That's an excellent summary, and I think you're right. Any pretense that the US, UK, or Sweden aren't police states (at least, in the case of the first two) has been stripped away. Does there come a moment when the populaces, who were under the illusion that they lived in democracies, say, "Holy crap!" and *do* something about it?
I wonder...

Generally, the populace like to be safe, and not bite the hand that guards them.
More specifically, in Sweden, I doubt that the populace actually understands the "importance" of what Assange "did"... They might even think he is a thief who took government property.
I would say, many do not care, even if they know who Assange is, since most of he's revelations does not really concern Scandinavia...
As I said before in some time ago, since this case concerns "women", the general Swedish populace (at least who knows about it) is not going to question loudly why this Ny woman does not handle the case in the most simple and efficient manner. Every male, at least, knows that the this is not the time to meddle with things connected to rape :D
This is the sorry state of things in Sweden, at least. (yes, i live there)
