CNN reports another major earthquake in Nepal:

This was another major earthquake, the kind where you run for your life, where you seek any open area so nothing falls on your head and you don't get trapped under the rubble.

This is on top of the recent magnitude 7.8 quake there.

The Washington Post reports more than 50 dead:

NEW DELHI — A major earthquake rocked Nepal on Tuesday, killing more than 50 people, collapsing homes and buildings and triggering a panicked rush into the streets less than three weeks after the country’s most devastating quake in decades. The temblor, with a preliminary magnitude of 7.3, was the largest jolt in the Himalayan nation since the April 25 earthquake that claimed more than 8,000 lives and left more than half a million homes flattened or damaged. The latest quake struck near the Chinese border not far from the base camp at Mount Everest. The camp was engulfed by an avalanche during last month’s earthquake that left 20 climbers dead. Tremors were felt in major cities around the region Tuesday — as far as 600 miles to the east in New Delhi.

I don't know that there is much to say about this, other than it sucks to be Nepalese right now. That, and I hope the hell the governments around the world get off their asses, and send some help. There are tens of thousands of helicopters around the world - we need to fold those bad boys up, put them on transport planes, and get them there faster than ASAP. Send the transport planes home to bring back a load of emergency supplies after the choppers unload.

If I'm not mistaken, all organizations in a position to do anything useful are already on the ground in Nepal with supplies and rescue personnel and doctors and such.

If anyone that does not work in emergency management is feeling a strong need to do something useful, the best thing you can do is give money to the big NGOs that know how to handle this.

I would have to say that you are probably mistaken. The US could send several companies of Marines within a day and a half. That would include a bucket load of medical corpsmen. There are NEVER enough people to help at a major disaster, and they never get there fast enough. Those rescue personnel already on scene probably got shook up themselves with the more recent quake, and would surely welcome any additional help.

Why is God doing this to the poor people of Nepal? Why? They never did anything harmful to America. Why would God treat the Nepalese so badly?

India should offer more support to the Nepalese. After all, it is the Indian plate that's forcefully ramming itself into the Eurasian plate, causing these earthquakes. Since it's Indian land causing these disasters, the Indian people should be the ones supporting the Nepalese, financially and in terms of other help, throughout this ordeal. India should also fully reimburse the other nations that have provided support to Nepal so far.

India has the right of way, because they are going North, and North is better. It's China that's refusing to yield (technically it's Tibet, but don't go telling the Chinese it's not the same).
