Spotted at Laughing Squid is an link to the Jet Powered Go-Kart developed by Colin Furze.

From the linked YouTube video summary:

So it's finished and it's brilliant, it's stable it starts easy and the fuel system after a slight redesign (see website) works perfectly. Top speed so far is 60mph but i run out of airstrip so might be more in it.

More details are available at Colin's project site. Colin is also known for previously developing this Jet powered bicycle.

Most mental kart ever, I'm not sure if that even begins to describe it. Jet powered, tiny kart-frame, no helmet, no seat-belt and doing about 100 km/h. It sounds more like a, potential, future winner of the Darwin award. Normal go-karts go about 60-70 km/h; you are strapped in and wearing a helmet. Him and His jet-kart is indeed totally mental.

Perhaps that why you so rarely hear about these things. Most people that might try something like this or that did try it is simple dead? ;-)

Apparently you are not aware of Colin's previous work. This fits into what is best described as "his normal". Brilliant and scary. Always worth the look.

I wasn't really aware of his work previously. The subject/title I picked was the same one he used for his Youtube clip (with some CAPS changes). That said I do find his build amusing on some level, fun crazy thing. But at the same time utterly mental and dangerous. I wouldn't want to try it even if he paid me. But as you note. Always worth a look.
