New Delhi Television reports

Routine testing revealed a Chilean 92-year-old grandmother has been bearing a large mummified fetus for at least 50 years, medical sources said [June 19].

The fetus weighing nearly two kilos (four pounds) was discovered after the nonagenarian was rushed to a hospital after suffering a fall. A hip X-ray showed the fetus, which was about seven months developed, but it did not cause the woman any pain.

The rare condition is known as lithopedion and occurs when a fetus dies during pregnancy and then calcifies outside the uterus. Only several hundred cases have been noted in medical history and it is not unusual for the condition to be undiagnosed for decades.

The Chilean woman returned home a few hours after being checked out, without an operation.

any other source? all we have is a few words from something with new delhi in the name, about a case in Chile. is the lack of any other reference meant to emphasize the truthiness of the story, or what?
I doubt that people in New Delhi would bother to go to sources in Chile (maybe I'm wrong, but I think Chile is very close to being litteraly on the other side of the world from India) and verify the NDTV claims, and, unless someone provides an actual source, I will just assume this is nonsense put up to attract clicks.
    gewg_, this is disappointing.

It's gewg_, what do you expect?

The BBC quote the Efe news agency, a Spanish news agency (and thus going to specialise in spanish-speaking countries), and I haven't found any other sources (or indeed a public copy of the primary source)

Entirely possible that the news agency made it up, but I'm not sure why they would.

The best observer is the dispassionate observer, and I doubt anyone reporting in India has much connection with Chile.
